    Combat Music

    Combat Music.

If you are like me, then music in a game is almost as important as graphics, story, and gameplay when it comes to rating a game. The music in AC has always been wonderful, but I feel like one aspect has kinda been lagging lately.

AC3 combat music was great in the frontier, and the city combat music was decent..but that was IT. There were no enough combat themes. It kinda sucked..cuz there were a bunch of themes in the AC3 soundtrack that would have are for excellent combat themes, such as "Trouble in Town". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S2P8L_5zKko

In AC4..wow was I disappointed. The boarding themes were epic, such as "take what is ours" and "Lay aboard lads", and the naval combat music was AMAZING, with "Pyrates Beware" being one of my all time favorite tracks in AC history. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xYwuf24HBW8

However..the land/city combat music was just..awful. One of them was "A Pirate's Life" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NaRwVnXAFmk This piece is more suited as a goddam stealth ambience. The part at 0:58 is very very good..but other than that..damn was it boring.

Theme 2 was a generic combat track not even included in the OST, no climax or anything lol. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kmU70dskphk

And the 3rd one, "Confrontation" was decent at best. At least it had a little bit of action to it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DwQrS_48kqA

It frustrates me so much because there are TONS of pieces that could have been used for combat, such as this theme: was AWESOME, and was only used like TWICE during scripted parts of the campaign.

Even the multiplayer had better "combat" music. This piece: "Tampa Bay" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_kZbwjLFfes at 1:06 and onward is awesome.

Then there is the issue of there not being any sort of "escape" music in the game at all, lol.

All mechanics and difficulty and whatnot put aside..I seriously believe that the quality of the combat music can help make or break a combat experience, and in AC Unity we really need to have some GOOD combat music.

If we are gonna go back to AC1 feel in Unity lol..then can we PLEASE have some AWESOME combat tracks like in that game as well???

I've actually started to dislike the combat music in every AC game. Since you just hear it a bazillion times per playthrough!

I'll go with AC1, mostly because Access the Animus is there and it plays during combat with an assassination target/right after. And frankly, no track in the series has even gotten remotely close to as tense and amazing as that one was.

AC2 wins just for this track alone, which was practically a hidden track, since you had to meet certain conditions to hear it:

AC2 also had several different combat themes depending on the city you were in.

Why haven't I heard this track before!?

Anyway, if we are to have escape themes, then the chases need to actually be a challenge. Not only that, but there needs to be more than just one THEME, because repetitive themes will soon start to bore players.

As fa as escape themes go, I doubt anything would be able to top Access the Animus. Speaking of combat music, AC2 wins hands down by the variety of tracks, as SixKeys says, by the location you're fighting in.

You can only hear it in the game if in the final mission you make it to Rodrigo Borgia without becoming fully notorious. This is the track that plays when you fight him.
