Nice to see a well informed, highly technical look at Fusion. Have both XB1 and PS4 versions and agree completely with the review: better on PS4 but not massively noticeable unless you are looking for it. Also have the 360 version, and I have to admit I find it hard to play now, with the low resolution and lighting issues. Credit to RL for managing to get 60fps on 360 though.

    Some points:

Frame rate of Trials Fusion is stable 60 fps almost all the time on all three consoles. The biggest dip they found was a single drop to ~56 fps (on Xbox One) in Dirt Derby (back straight). Our frame rate is very good compared to other next gen games Digital Foundry has analyzed. Forza is the only next gen game they have analyzed that had as good frame rate as we have.

The texture popping issue (textures are briefly blurred at full track restart) is a compromise between game play and graphics. It's the same compromise we did in Trials Evolution. This allows us to have instant track restart. We didn't want to add a ~2 second loading screen to track restarts (not in Evolution and not in Fusion either). We feel that instant restart is so important part of the game play that a minor texture blurring at track restart is a better compromise than a loading screen (no matter how short it is). I fully expect all hardcore fans to have the same opinion as I do. Game play always wins over graphics.

Top decision on both fronts Seb. FR is impressive in this game, across all platforms. Also, restarting quickly is so essential when trying over and over again. Great to have an insight into the decisions the devs made and why. It's super that you take the time to respond so thoroughly

You made the right choice, a delay when restarting would be painful for speedrunning. Thanks for the insight Seb.

Like I said on another thread, when pressing B to instant restart the track, there is more of a delay on Fusion than there is on Evolution. There was only one track on Evolution that had a tiny freeze when pressing B and that was Dystopia, so trying to get use to the delay on all tracks is quite difficult cause I get ready to lean back and forward quickly but have to adjust the timing to do so.

Also a big lag spike is on the last hard track (don't know the name, think it's greater crater) just before you go down into that bubble downhill part near the end there is a big rock which is really spiky. And just before you drive up it, there is a good 1/2 - 1 second lag spike. According to everyone else it happens to them but only on Xbox 360.
