This feature had quite a lot of debate on Trials Evolution as well. Do we wan't to allow a creator to delete a track that is hugely popular (even part of RedLynx picks)? Lots of players might have played the track and spend huge amount of time to improving their leaderboard score on that track. Do we want that a single player can just choose to wipe out an entire track and it's leaderboard (containing hundreds of thousands of scores)?Originally Posted by emcee Go to original post
Quite a divisive question this Seb: me personally would probably be against allowing deletions, unless in the first 24 hours for fixes perhaps, for the very reason you mentioned. Although, if we got LOCAL management of our tracks back (as we had on Evo) then once downloaded this wouldn't be an issue for those that had the track, in the same way that when tracks got reported for no good reason they could never be removed fro your HDD.Originally Posted by sebastianaalton Go to original post
I have to agree with seb on this. The only thing this would do is make TC worse. People would upload a track, see something needs a fix, delete it, re-upload it and maybe even do this multiple times with the same track.Originally Posted by sebastianaalton Go to original post
At the moment there is at least an insentive to "grind" your track to see if it needs fixes and let as many people as you want do testruns on it if you are unsure, if you could delete your track after uploading, this insentive would be gone and alot more people would just upload their track not caring if they made a mistake because they can just delete it afterwards and reupload it.
Everybody knows the risks of uploading a track, if something in your track is broken it's your own fault and you should learn from the experience to do better next time...
Like seb said,, leaderboard would be gone for that track so what would be the point of having it? And tracks that get deleted would have bugs most of the time anyway so why would you want to keep a track like that? Nobody is going to delete a good track right?Originally Posted by morrillo Go to original post
....And imagine pressing the wrong button and deleting your best track ever![]()
Deleting a track deletes also it's online leaderboard (and there's no local leaderboards). So even if some player would have a local copy, he/she wouldn't be able to compete against himself or other players anymore, or watch replays or play against ghosts.Originally Posted by morrillo Go to original post
Also I have good news about the "track got reported for no good reason and removed" thing (a major problem in Evolution TC): That is no longer an issue in Fusion TC. In Fusion TC, tracks only disappear AFTER a moderator has reviewed the report and agreed. And we can of course still restore it afterwards.
That's not how I understood it to work. I was under the impression that tracks that receive enough reports would be moved for moderation. Though people should be happy to know that once a track that has been reported, and restored, it can't be reported and sent for moderation again.Originally Posted by sebastianaalton Go to original post
^ This. There should be a sticky or whatever for ninja riders with how to set this up in the editor. I really don't want to see individual checkpoints anymore of ninja's on Track Central, it's not hard to set this up in a track and it won't clutter TC and is even easier for ninja riders to practice the different checkpoints. Yes, you won't be able to be first on a checkpoint, but that is not the point of releasing individual cp in the first place. I'm assuming the replay bug is also fixed? So there is really no point anymore of doing this.Originally Posted by morrillo Go to original post
In my opinion, there should maybe even be a report function for this if this get's out of hand again and these individual checkpoint "tracks" should be deleted from TC. There are tools in the editor for it, use them please, specially pro ninja builders. Please show others the way of doing this the right way.
Imo this is the same as uploading the same track 2/3 times. (maybe a report function for that too?)
I agree there should be some guidelines to track central, like individual checkpoints is something I really hated in Evo Gold feeds, Ninja tracks already dominated the main feeds, and single checkpoints took even more space.
It's indeed possible to code in checkpoint skipping in tracks, and you could in theory even make it unable to finish if you did skip one (trigger in a wall before finish or something :P)
I cannot judge TC itself yet as PC isn't released yet, will post my comments when it's out and used.
I would like to make a suggestion. The new rating system would be great but I feel it is missing one thing.... An effort rating....
In many cases I see tracks that aren't very good but you can tell this person who has made it has obviously put a lot of effort into making it. I feel introducing an effort rating out of 5 will not only produce a lot of motivation but it will also show originality in a person's track, you may make a good track but it can be completely stale and not very innovative. THIS rating will solve all of those tracks with little done to them from appearing as often![]()
