Hi ..
Personally I wasn't too happy with frontier. Too much Ubisoft BS .. I was looking forward to a Trials game and I am extremely bothered with all the narrative textboxes, wheel of fortune, RPG elements and freaking having to wait before I can ride again because I refuse to pay BS virtual currency! I'd gladly pay for a game good game .. I hate in-game purchases though .. for some reason they never unlock content permanently but just try to keep you paying.
Anyway .. I hope this game is a gimmick to get the attention to turn on a Fusion .. which I hope will be better than Evo. If it is anything like frontier .. Ubisoft has killed the frachise if you ask me!
What is your opinion?
I think the general consensus of anyone who's enough of a hardcore fan to participate on a RedLynx discussion board will probably find Trials Frontier's play method a little disappointing.
That said, this is the most viable way to make money in the App Store economy. Like it or not, free to play is the direction that market is going. I really wish they'd release a free version with in app purchases and a paid version that skips all that BS. I'd love to be able to just pay RedLynx $5-$10 and just play the game how I want and when I want.
Well said, and I also agree on a paid version that skips the BSOriginally Posted by KraftsCheese Go to original post![]()
I'm a professional software developer myself and I know about the App Store business model. I don't object, I just hate. Like I said I hope that Fusion will be more true to the Trials series thus far .. I've been playing some more Frontier and I must say, aside from the gimmicky BS, it has Redlynx written all over it in terms of handling and smoothness (minus Evo Gold which is the opposite of smooth), so I guess that makes the case for the best Trials game on IOS.
Thanks for the reply.
Cheers
The game is targeted to those who play all these other crappy F2P games and wastes their money on that. It's narrated this 'questy' way because of the F2P model it uses. You're not supposed to play this game for 2 hours straight if you want to stay free. It's a pickup and play game, where you spend 5-10 minutes each session and do stuff, like the hourly slots challenge and getting items.
There's also an issue with people wanting to just pay $10-20 for it. Because the game is set up to be compatible with microtransactions, there's a chance of earning a LOT more than $10-20 per user on average. There are options to buy packs for $100 and if there was a choice to get the entire game for under $50 with no limitations, that would be pointless. I absolutely hate microtransactions, but the game doesn't force it too hard on me. I only bought the starter pack, because there's no way I'm going to buy any of the other packs.
Right now, I'm not having issues with gems, I get them regularily and try to not use them for getting those quest items in the roulette. I gained the extra 100K coins from the purchase, but since I'm not upgrading anything before I need to, because questing is the important part of getting to the end-game, I now have 180K coins and have never had an issue when I actually need them. After 4 days I've had no problem. I'll come back after a month to see if the game's F2P progression keeps me wanting to play the game and give a proper review on it.
One easy step to enjoying the game slightly more. Have some patience.
