I read somewhere that the multiplayer part of a game is by far the hardest part to code. So I'm guessing RL coded the main game, then ran out of time before MP was finished, but instead of delaying the game they decided to patch MP in after release. Obviously i would have liked to have MP at launch, but I'd rather have single player and MP later than have the game delayed just so MP is ready at launch. I'm sure pretty much everyone else would too.
I may well be in the minority then, as I would always rather wait for amazing games to be completed carefully rather than rushed out unfinished, and patched up later.Originally Posted by S-Wallis Go to original post
I would agree if it was something that made the game unplayable, such as the physics not being quite right. I don't see it being rushed out either though as they're flat out not including MP at launch, rather than include a broken MP then patch a fix in later.Originally Posted by morrillo Go to original post
I mean, let's imagine it will take a month to patch in MP, I think I'd cry if they delayed the game by a month at this point, lol.
I agree to a degree, but there is the chance that the leaving out of MP is indicative of time pressures across the whole game.Originally Posted by S-Wallis Go to original post
Also, a delay now would be painful, BUT a release date of June when we first found out would have hardly been more painful than the close release date we did get.
Very true. I really hope it isn't though...Originally Posted by morrillo Go to original post
Not having MP on launch is wasting a big opportunity imo. Alot of new people could be pretty dissapointed with this, depending on how well they communicate this with them. You don't want people to think there won't be no mp. But even postponing MP is dangerous imo as the first week you buy a game is crucial for getting hooked on a game or not. At least for me. There isn't even a date on when MP would be implemented, who knows how long it will take them...Originally Posted by S-Wallis Go to original post
Another issue with releasing MP at a later date is that those that generally want the game for its MP may as well wait for the game to go down in price in a DOTW or retail deal. If you don't buy a game in the first 2 weeks of its release, I don't think it's worth buying until its cheaper.
Ubisoft are putting pressure on the release and this has meant that the game is not finished. This is what happens when a well respected small studio sells itself.
I wouldn't particularly say RL have sold out. You can definitely tell the difference though since they got snapped up by Ubisoft.Originally Posted by Mansfield Go to original post
No offence, but you have no idea wether Ubisoft are putting pressure on the release or not. It may simply be that RL chose to try something new/different with MP and rather than postpone release of the game, they simply decided to add it as a free dlc/p[atch after release.Originally Posted by Mansfield Go to original post![]()
