Now I have read there is a link to a South Park forum elsewhere, but that is if you want to discuss game specific things.
But this is a thread aimed solely at Ubisoft and their decision to censor South Park outside of the US.
I just do not understand "why".
Even PEGI approved release of the game fully uncut with an 18 rating in Europe so it can't be a rating issue as the game is 18 anyway when censored. So it is Ubisoft themselves that have released the game censored despite PEGI passing it uncensored.
So what is the difference here, it would have gotten the same age rating from PEGI either way?
Plus is the game not an adult game made by adults for adults based on an adult TV show made to replicate scenes from that adult TV show?
So as an adult, within this game I can hear very offensive swearing, violence toward children, blood, vomit, nudity, etc. But I can't see comedic, animated anal probing...why?
It's not about bring a "pervert" before anyone comments.
It's cos the game is based on an adult TV show and so it should be allowed to depict that adult TV show as intended.
I'm an adult I can decide for myself what I can or can not see and I should have the right to make that decision myself. If I'm old enough to buy the game, then I'm old enough to decide what I can and can not see.
Plus the fact PEGI did pass the game uncut with the same rating as it is now when it is censored.
This does not make sense.
The CoD games have recently got it right (never thought I'd say that) with it's choice of self-censorship. As recent games have given the player the option to see the more graphic and disturbing scenes and images if they wish, or they can choose to not see them.
Why could they not have done the same thing with this game too?
Even more to the point, the censored scenes are all over the interwebs. So cutting them is not stopping people from seeing them, if anything it's drawing more attention to them.
Yes I know I could easily jump on the interwebs and see the censored scenes myself...but that is not the point. As part of the game playing experience, I should not have to search the interwebs mid game to see things I should be allowed to see if I chose to anyway.
So if I have this right. A paying adult that buys the adult rated game can not see the scenes...but anyone under-age that knows how to use You Tube can?
Again, this makes no sense when PEGI passed the game uncut for the same rating as it is now being cut.
What are Ubisoft doing here?
It's uncut in America, it has been passed fully uncut by PEGI in Europe with an 18 rating, but it is still released with an 18 rating censored anyway.
Either censor the same things for everyone...or don't censor at all.
This does not make sense...like the Chewbacca defence.
I do hope Ubisoft come to their senses and release the game uncut, or a patch allowing the censored scenes to be shown again.
But I bet this thread will be locked/removed and nothing else will be said by Ubisoft.
Hi,
The official statement concerning the censorship is here:
http://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php...South-Park-SoT
I'm sorry but other than Ubisoft took the decision to alter the game, I don't have any other information to share on this.
I think it's because this game is too vulgar, especially for kids. It's weird actually to see how this game looks like a child-themed game, but surprisingly, there are too many horrible and vulgar scenes in this game that don't deserve to be seen by kids, especially the scenes about abortion, sex (character's parents), poop, etc.
