We should go rogue and make our own forums and make them they way WE want. Just thinking out loud....

oh and now that I wanted to preview what I wrote I have to enter another 6 different digits.

It's bad, i'm trying to get used to it, like everyday, i get in here and try, but it's just not working...

I don't know man, just feels like things will never be the same, that sense of tight community we once had, i feel like it's just gonna fade away, as this turns into another random cold game specific forum, where ppl come to when they have problems with the game...

I hope not, i really do, but this is really how i feel.

Or when Fusion is out and we're all playing it and we all have things to say about it and questions to ask, we'll all be back here anyway whether we like it or not. Could be why they made the switch so close to the new game's release.

Or maybe the switch was made close to Fusion so that when most of the longtime fans leave, the influx of "new game people" will make the forum look busy anyway - and UbiLynx can pat themselves on the back for a job well done.
Then when it's dead 2 months later, it's a lot less work for them anyway.

The switch was planned for a while, but the need to have a forum open for both the beta and the release of fusion to allow for feedback meant that the jump was made in a somewhar more "rushed" manner than was intended. But it wasnt a forced move, it was a decision that was made, I wish I could share some of the possibilities that these forums allow Rl so I could demonstrate WHY I think its a good move, but all I can do is hope that people will at least check back in a few weeks and see what has been possible and what they think of the forums then.

The cpatcha system DOES disable itself. I know we all hate it, but it IS only temporary. I promise you that it DOES disable, I just dont have the information as to what parameters are required before it happens.

Finally, it is obviously the commubity that makes the forums a home FOR the community. SO I really hope that people settle in and get used to these forums and see that they ARE a benefit once everything has been adjusted, tweaked, finalised, etc. Maybe if that happens, word of mouth will bring other members back as well and the community will simply have moved home from the old forums to these forums and then the new players can see just what a great community this game has had and could continnue to have.

So my only request is that everyone either sticks around until Fusion or comes back FOR Fusion and makes any decisions then as to what they think. Hopefully by that date the changes will have been implemented, captcha will be gone, things will be more organised, themes finalised and all of that good stuff. Then everyone can see if they like the final design/layout/etc or not.

You guys make the ommunity, not a forum or its style. In order for this to be home, its you guys who can make that happen. So I hope that everyone will be really extra patient and try to adapt to the situation and help make these forums your home of trials as you did the old ones. We all know the "jump" was sudden and unexpected, things arent completely finalised or set upa and captcha is, frankly, a pain in the ***. But as I say, all that should hopefully be resolved by Fusion if you can just endure it until then.

I appreciate this isnt making anything better right now. This hasnt answered or solved any issues. Many of you have been in the community longer than I have. But I can tell you RL have been hard at work to try and maintain as much of your identity and history as possible. This is the ONLY sub section of the Ubi foprums with its own usernames (Your RL usrernames). The whole forum history has been brought with us. RL Are really working hard to try and rebuild a house for everyone to call home.

    Thanks for reading.

Not that anyone would know nowadays - "incorrect" join dates not the biggest gripe in the world but it's misleading and yet more fan-service that deserves highlighting.

And I must say Barry, it's impressive how you manage to type so much and include almost no information. We've been told repeatedly the captcha crap goes but we still dont know when or how - it goes without saying this move was a conscious decision, how could it not have been? - and tbh I dont know where to begin with "the community makes the community" part.

And yeah I know I'm being a tool again and there's probably no need for it. I dont even care very much - it's just an internet forum that doesnt look as good, or work as well so what. But I liked the old one, and I don't feel like making an extra effort to make this place feel as good when it shouldn't have been imposed on us in the first place. I'd rather just complain about it

I have been getting more and more jaded by the entire gaming industry as time goes on. I am getting SICK and TIRED of this forced Uplay bs. There is an ever growing list of things that are simply pushing me away from Redlynx in general. I look forward to Fusion but wont really be visiting the forums anymore....

I'm just gonna put this post here and then be done with the whole thing, and by done I mean I will delete this nickname, not make a new one and not come back to the forum and just stick to webchat - for as long as I can before Ubi destroys that too.

Yeah the join date is by no means something to get riled up over, it's just yet another thing Ubilynx with all these new moderators can tell us "we're sorry, but lets just try to get along and get on with it" over, as they have in the past, and with this recent forum malarky. And that's all we're ever gonna get, an automated message by the new servants of Ubi and Redlynx.

There arent that many people left now who can testify to just how much Redlynx has changed over the years. Off the top of my head, the only remaining active member who has been here since I started in 2008 is Dosto (QCChopper too, but I dont see him around much) and I dont think hes gonna voice his opinion anytime soon, but I will. And quite frankly how Redlynx has changed is awful. From being a really cool little independent gaming studio who took the time to respond to the most random threads, to not answering the simplest questions about very important stuff in Evo, to not giving us ample information about forum moves, competitions and whatnot. From being active with us in webchat, to the situation we have now.

We ask completely valid and legit questions about important stuff like how the dreaded front wheel in Evo could have been okay'ed in testing. Did we ever see an honest response from one of the actual devs? All I ever saw was Shifty's completely insincere automated "we're sorry but it is what it is" message, said in various different ways over the years. I could be wrong, but I don't think so and it's just frustrating to see. At least give us something valid without hiding behind all this crap about how your hands are tied because of Ubi. It's bs and you know it.

I understand Redlynx have gotten busier over the years, but they have just handled things crazy bad. Reeks of amateurism. You put people in positions of power when they just barely understand the game, and I'm fed up with it. Barry being given his position of power, for what? For making a lot of posts in a short amount of time? I've hardly seen one kind word said about Barry, EVER. To be a moderator, I think the majority of people should respect you. And if you think this is me on a personal tangent or vendetta or something daft like that, think again - I'm far from the worst culprit here, I'm just the guy who actually SAYS what other people are thinking.

I'm sorry if I'm wrong about all this and I might just be a grumpy old bastard, but this is not just me, this is what I feel is somewhat of a collective opinion for a lot of people. And having so many disgruntled and unhappy HARDCORE fans shows that you, whoever it is, Redlynx, Ubi, WHOEVER, has handled things in a really bad way. At the end of the day, that is the result after all these years. Hardcore fans complaining and eventually even leaving. It's YOUR fault, Redlynx, nobody else's!

But yeah, we're sorry, but let's just get on with it, things will get better, the community makes the community.

There's no way I'm gonna feel at home here and its not even due to this new forum, this was just the straw that broke the camels back. This post has been a long time coming and with all this hassle where I cant even get my old nick back, I've decided to not bother as it's almost certainly not worth it in the end anyway. I have my friends in webchat and thats fine with me, the rest I no longer care about, and thats all I have to say.

I complain a lot but I will be hanging around for Fusion and so on. I don't like the way things around here have changed but I love the games and competition too much to leave. I think this place would have been fine if SO many people didn't just up and leave instantly. If this place were a bit busier I think things would be great. Anyway, I'm too old for the blame game and I don't envy the job the moderators here and anyone at RL have to do. They must be busy as hell right now. Hopefully when Fusion comes out this place will pick up. It is a great community after all.

It was either sebbbi or sipe who talked about this in the past, and even gave the reason as to why it wouldn't be changed.

You don't have to have the most knowledge about the workings of Trials to be a great forum moderator. Barry has been an invaluable help, especially with the forum migration, and we are lucky to have him as a moderator. Barry has done quite a bit to help people and he doesn't get the recognition or respect that he deserves for how much time he has put into helping people on the forums.

He took it upon himself to create a "Lost Thread" topic to help people who couldn't find their favorite threads, and he wrote a Forum Q&A and FAQ. He wasn't asked to do these things to help people out. He did it all by himself because he cares about this community.

TL: DR - You don't need to like him, or me, or Shogun... or anyone. But you should certainly respect what he does for the community, and the hours he volunteers, to try to help people.

They explained why it (the front wheel) couldnt be changed (which is obvious), not how it was okay'd/went unnoticed in the first place. Which is what Norf said.

And that's all great but at no point did he question the amount of time or effort put in by anyone.
Nice refutes, but you're not refuting any of the points that were made, again.

It doesn't matter anyway. For every Norfair that leaves, 5 new forum members will arrive for Fusion and thats good bizniz for you guys :slowclap:
