I found this exact same workaround too. I go www.ubi.com, sign in, sign out. Then come here and I'm logged in successfully.
Although I don't know why I even bother because when logged in I keep getting that "select screen name" with no options to select from -rubbish everytime I do anything pretty much.

    Greetings,

    The issues I have are;

    - having to enter a captcha for every post, I am logged in for gods sake.
    - Visiting the Redlynx section of the forums and you're not auto logged in. Doing the login process then redirects you back to the main forum page instead of where I was, the redlynx section. So I then have to go looking for it in the list of 'More forums' at the bottom.

Going here: http://forums.ubi.com/forumdisplay.p...RedLynx-Studio there is a couple of form fields at the bottom of the page which do not work, perhaps they should be either fixed or removed.

The captcha runs out by the time you hit about 10 posts, so I wouldnt worry about that.

With the amount of spam that was infesting the old forums, I hope that entering a capcha for a few posts isn't going to cause that much of an issue with users in the long run.

The bots were an integral part of the trials community - bot-to-bot conversations, riveting stories. Gone.

I am really going to miss the smilies though, the  one in particular Edit: yay!

    Real question:
What are the benefits to using the new forums over the old ones?
The embedded videos now pop to the middle of the screen, that's the only difference I have seen so far.
Quote from the blog post; 'This new forum design will allow us, the community team and game developers, many more ways to create exciting community events for you, the players.' - How so, what's so different about the new design - Four videos at the top of the page? Other than that, those of you at RL are trying to make it look exactly the same as the old forums.

After a quick google search, the only true benefit I can see for using vBulletin over phpBB is the superior anti-spam system - A worthy reason for a tedious full forum migration?

Edit: I know it's just a placeholder, but there is far too much going on in the background image on this forum. Simplicity is best! :P

These forums look vastly different than the previous RedLynx forums, and not just theme-wise. The front page layout is different, the categories are different, and... Well, it's all different. One of the main benefits is that there are dedicated people to take care of the forums. With our previous forums, most of the technical aspects were dealt with by members of the RedLynx IT department on top of their real responsibilities. These guys work hard, there is no reason to give them more work.

There are some things that I am not able to talk about, but utilizing a Uplay login that works on multiple platforms and mobile devices... That might be good.

Well that is reason enough for the change, I guess I always assumed the forums were a self-sustaining entity, lol.

Ok, cool, not sure what to expect, but if it helps connect all platforms, indeed, it might be good.
