The new Forums are Awful | Forums

test post... for me... hello. idea is that this would work like old forums. so... lets work to that goal.

the way i look at it is if i made a brand new bank for instence and lets say called it Smegwest bank, do u really think it would be a good idea to open it to the public before its even completed or anywhere near ready? Answer to that is No by the way it would be ludicrous. Also the if somethings not broken then dont fix it (or in this case - breake it), you had the best forum out there and god knows why its been traded for this but i cant imagine any amount of complaining is going to make you return to the old/good one so i will start by listing some ideas/issues - sorry if they have been covered but it took me 15 mins to find this thread again.

1 - a whole easy to see big Redlynx section on the homepage
2 - the same kind of msg typing screen as the old 1 - small box to type in instead of huge box filled with microscopic txt that goes off the screen
3 - clearly visable box of emoticons next to it like the old one
4 - some kind of colour to the forum - this white background is horrid, very cold, uninviting and just has absolutely no character
5 - a spell check like before where the miss spelled words come up in red - very handy when the txt is so small and hard to read
6 - a memory/favorites system where it either knows where u usually want to be on the forums and loads you straight to the Redlynx Evolution section for instance - i rly dont wish to see anthying about any other games every time i log in i am only interested in trials and redlynx
7 - a homepage button - cant seem to find 1
8 - a quicker way to find the right page on a thread - i wanted to read page 6 but it only shows 1 - 3 or last which was 7 so i loaded page 3 then it gave me option of page 3 - 5 so i loaded page 5 only then could i load page 6 which was frustrating so maybe have an option of at least pages 1 - 10
9 - an option to just sign in with our old accounts - transfer all the details straight from redlynx forum to this
10 - list of old threds from the old forum - do i even still have my track thread? and im trying to find vladis competion thread - does it still exist

was there no way to just merge forums and keep everything the way it was?




thats all for now god knows how long the list would be if i spent any more time in this hellhole of confusion

1 - Just access "Redlynx Studios" and use that as your bookmark.
2 - No answer for you.
3 - Click "Go advanced" when replying.
4 - Not sure if this is adjustable in your profile settings, no answer.

6 - Again, use your bookmarks or use the settings in your profile to sub to threads or mark sections (I believe).

9 - Its not quite that straight forward, but the plan is that all the threads from RL will populate this forum in time so that no threads are lost.

I will chime in here where Barry couldn't. Firstly, I appreciate your analogy to the bank. I understand that as well. But forums are not a bank. For starters, I don't think it would be any better, for example, we took the forums down for a week while getting everything shiny. There would be even more chaos. This way we can sort out linking, the population of threads and back data, and to be fully transparent with you.

Clicking the RedLynx Studio Button will take you to the main RL section.

2) The quick reply box at the bottom of the screen is pretty useful I find. Also, you can always press "CTRL +" to zoom in to make font larger on your screen.

3) There's a smiley face on the editor bar.

4) As stated before, this is not the final product. We are looking into customization.

5) Which browser are you using? I use Google Chrome and there is a built-in spell checker that is across all sites. Some browsers have this as an add-on. I will also check for you to see if this is in the options any where.

6) Answered by Barry. I'm not sure how familiar you are with subscribing to threads, but it is the fastest, easiest way to be notified of new threads in a forum. And there are varying levels of notifications. If you want it immediate, or a summary of the day.

8) One suggestion, I know the previous forums had a default post count per page of about 30. In vBulletin, the default post count per page is 10. However, this can be changed by going into Settings (Upper right corner) > General settings (left side bar).

I asked for a little icon to show next to my RedLynx Forum bookmark.

Apparently this angered the IT server gods.

I can't help but feel this (and the now Ubi logo) is somehow all my fault.


The main reason I dislike the Ubi forums is that as a gamer, every time I came here regarding an issue... I just saw thread after thread of customers not being heard, frustrated about broken games, giving up on workarounds, Ubi-responses that were cold and distant- "We appreciate your concern, and have people looking into this..."

Ubisoft knows business, I guess. But RedLynx you know gamers. Right?

This forum is "coming together" and "looking better" but you may have removed what kept the Trials community together... the community forums. <-- and these cutesy emotes?

I have to admit it looks "better" than it did yesterday... (also nice to have no captcha blocker)

Is it for sure the old forums are dead? Or could we petition to get them back?

Like everyone else said here, this is a nightmare...

I know Redlynx won't go back to the old forums, maybe because they can't, maybe this wasn't even their call in the first place, but yeah, i feel like this change will break up the community even more than having the game on 4 different platforms.

I feel like i lost a friend...
