Speedrunning, in a general sense, is playing a game from . Point A -> Point Z . as fast as you possibly can.
[i]Now normally in trials, if you are playing competitively, you are replaying individual tracks tournaments over and over and over, trying to make/discover small optimizations in your run to, hopefully, get a better time. And then happily proceed to call all your friends noob lords.
Speedrunning essentially takes what you do all the time on individual tracks, and simply expands the idea to include the whole game. Perhaps some of you have seen games like "Zelda:Ocarina of Time" being speedrun before and thought "hey arent they cheating by skipping from Point A to F to Z?" Well yes and no.
In the world of speedrunning games, there are different category's a speedrun can fall into for any specific game, depending on the guidlines that have been set up by the community involved in that game. The most common categories are as follows.
100% (get all collectibles, Power ups, etc)
Any% (Just beat the game as fast as you can)
Any% Glitchless (Just beat the game as fast as you can, without using any exploits)
Some games, depending on the game and desires of the community, can have added restrictions to either make the speedrun more competitive, or just more interesting/fun. Examples of those include.
No Slots (Final Fantasy 7) - your not allowed to use some overpowered ability that 1 shots every boss in the game.
0 deaths - Some games, like trials, allow you in some cases to abuse death to skip certain parts or make some parts easier/faster.
Buster Only (Mega Man X) - Dont use any other weapon/ability

GET TO THE POINT!!!!

kk well, in trials, in case you forgot, after you get 235 medals for the first time (ur so good), you unlock the "Trials Trophy" and the credits roll. Well one of our fellow TE:GE riders "Dynastical" was streaming on twitch one day with the title "Trials Evolution: Gold Edition any% sub 1:40 Attempts" (or something like that), so me and some other TE:GE scrubs joined his channel to see what it was all about. We left that stream as different people. Not only did it look like fun, but we were all confident that we could do it way faster then him and each other (dat competition though).
That was Me (Vantier), Chaeron, and MuzzaLOL, I think our first attempts at running it were something like 1:16:00, 1:11:00, and 1:08:00, respectively (

). Then later TheBlazeJP caught wind of this, and he wasnt having none of that, so he proceeded to knock muzza off his thrown, but after some back and forth, Muzza retook the castle with a 58 minute and 4 second run (Wut A Beast).
