They could seperate two very similar variations of the color green easily where we can't, but couldn't seperate blue vs. green, it was the same for them.

And those lighter elements got "cooked" in the cores of the sun and were turned into heavier elements, then when these super heavy stars exploded they scattered the elements in their core into space.
