Well, the retail pc version will come with a Uplay key, so you don't have to use the disc at all. Redeem the key on uplay and download/play it through there. Even if you use the disc for installation, after this you don't have to keep it in. Nothing illegal about it, it's just how all the retail uplay games work on pc.
Agreed, any game I got last few years that had disced versions, the discs were purely for installing, and not for running anymore. I got the boxed version of battlefield 4 for example (does not need discs to play) and I never need the disc anymore since I linked it to Origin (to get the "digital download"). And it had a paper insert with a "Deluxe" edition/DLC code.Originally Posted by sparkierjonesz
Discs used to be needed for anti-piracy, nowadays, on most known games from big franchises the serial code is linked to a platform instead (steam/origin/uplay/battle.net) to get any online content.
And since Fusion will be available digitally via steam/uplay, I assumed the disc will just be like that. for installing, and the bonus content for deluxe is probably just an insert in the box which you register somewhere. Same for the Season Pass.
Discs still save you some download time on big games however if you don't have fast internet(BF4 was like 25 GB)
I'm still going to get a boxed version, even if it would come out a day or 2 later then digital.
I preordered the retail version via amazon here in the US, at the time they said i'd receive the game on the 16th, however today I received this message from amazon:
"Trials Fusion - Xbox One Standard Edition"
Previous estimated arrival date: April 16, 2014
New estimated arrival date: April 15, 2014
I don't know what to make of it, but if fusion shows up a day early I'll be stoked!
