    Lag spikes in multiplayer?

When I am playing multiplayer I always get lag spikes at certain points in certain tracks, for example on Way of the Ninja I lag at the logs and the big box afterwards and at the end of Dammed.

Does anyone else get this, and does anyone know why it happens?

I've had it happen to me loads, dunno what causes it tho. It happens to me in the same spots as you and I always get this lag at the beginning of certain SX tracks! Any possibility of a fix RL?? Also a side note, I HATE TIRE GLITCHES, not so much in SP because I'm used to them but in MP it's soo annoying!

Hmmm, yeah this sometimes happens to me too. I also forgot to mention that when I play a DLC game after playing a non DLC game some of the textures don't load and i cant see the driving line, but I think this is probably because my xbox is old...

The loading times vary on different Xboxes depending on the hard disk usage and how old your system is. In a nutshell, the game loads the world into memory whenever it's changed, then the track and then starts streaming the objects. If someone else had that world preloaded from previous race they have more time to wait for the track objects while waiting for others. When everyone has the track loaded the game has to start to prevent any excessive waiting. Unfortunately with Xbox it's really difficult to keep the hdd defragmented. Clearing cache could help but best way is still to format the hdd once in a while.

i might sound like a PC noob now, but doesn't format means deleting everything on the HDD? or can i do that w/out data loss?

Yeah I'm afraid it means just that since there's no defrag tool in Xbox. Trials is not the only game suffering from this, in GTA I often hit something while driving fast and then the game draws the object. You won't lose anything but of course you'll need a big enough external drive to backup everything and it'll take time to copy everything back and forth. It's also a good idea to install only games on hdd and use cloud for saves and external drive/network for music, videos and such. It's not much but saves the hdd from constantly changing small files scattered around the disc surface.
