Why did I get a pass through anyway?

Because of the number of players. 52 players the bracket system are made to run smooth brackets with 8/16/32/64 players in a tournament, so since we are not at any of these numbers the first 6 matches got split up and got spread out in round 2, all done by the Bracket system.
