Not sure anyone's been playing Trials frontier, but there is a pay wall behind that. I'll admit, it was one of my weaker moments purchasing coins on the mobile platform, but that said, I can't be the only one who purchased stuff from the game. Trials frontier when released globally will bring in a huge income for RedLynx. There will be plenty of people out there weaker than me who will pay for coins and gems on frontier. You add that to a global market and bam! They'll be making a ton of Money.Originally Posted by Barrybarfly
I'm sure RedLynx as well as Ubisoft have found numerous ways to make $ on the side. Let's just have faith that RedLynx as a whole knows what they are doing and that they are aware of what the community wants and are willing to meet somewhere in the middle.
Well when you buy trials hd/evolution/fusion. Some of your money is unarguably going towards the built in tracks and not just Track Central. So why are you so against the option of paying/tipping track creators for their work just because they aren't a redlynx employee? logic?Originally Posted by Barrybarfly
Remember Guitar Hero? I fell away from that because every song cost at least a $1. I think part of the reason the community is as active as it is, is because RedLynx Time and time again have offered a product that costs way less then most Hit Titles and yet offers more replay value than most games you end up paying top price for.
A move like this would kill the community. Unless it was for something like buying tracks from a different platform. Such as 360 owners getting tracks from our PC brethren on Gold. And the $ wouldn't necessarily go to the creators but more to the people converting these tracks from PC to 360 or from 360 to PC.
the guitar hero comparison doesn't really match because music actually costs money , to get a song into their game it would take like a year to license it and have to pay people to add the notechart to itOriginally Posted by llDumptruckll
tc is free because people make free unique content where basicly nobody has any rights too besides the creator( unless its really obvious for some names etc)
If you had to pay for TC in Evolution, I would never have been on it.
Don't confuse the amount of people using TC with the amount of people that would use it if you had to pay.
Don't let greed bring down this terrific game and community, its a slippery slope to game altering microtransactions. If it gets to that then I will have no problem with leaving the trials world.
I am not for a system where you are forced to pay for all Track central content. I would like to see an option to Tip the map creators though. Some of you guys against this seem to be jumping the gun on the issue for no valid reason, while at the same time you will happily throw money at Redlynx for DLC tracks? I doubt any of you would argue they dont deserve the ability to charge for the maps they create (obviously they include new items and stuff, but i doubt that is your selling point when you buy it).
Asking for them to include the ability to tip map creators is not greedy in any possible way. People demanding that they get everything for free on the other hand and damning anyone that dares suggest otherwise though...........
So then in your view Charity sets a dangerous precedent that could lead to ANY charity for any cause outside of walmart letting you in ONLY if you are willing to pay the toll?Originally Posted by Barrybarfly
no, if you like the charity, you donate, simple as that.
No sense in worrying that maybe if you give them money they will turn into evil troll guards that one day demand an entrance fee lol
The "slippery slope" argument is dumb. There are lines, we know what the lines are, we dont cross the lines. Where as you suggest we dont even look in the direction of the line otherwise we might fall over it. All that logic does is halt potential progress and innovation.
That is the most naive thing I've heard. YOU may know where lines are and I may. But do you really think EA, MS or many other companies even care about where lines are? Micro transactions for example, which is where this idea could and probably would lead in the hands of a lot of companies imo. Its bad enough they're in a lot of games already, let alone having them based on user content as well.Originally Posted by Vantier
