    Wow. It flys!
For those of you looking to get a better frame rate, I highly recommend to those of you who can (i.e. have the time) format your system (yes, your operating system) and play this game with a clean hard drive.

I took about 3 hours to format and reconfigure my system and I was able to go from low detail to medium detail and got a very smooth frame rate. (only on first mission so far).

    Just an idea.

Do you mean the overall framerate is higher or that it access the hard disk less, causing less skips? If its the latter it would make sense.

Otherwise, there must have been something pretty messed up on your system prior to the format.

I haven't formatted in about... 3 years, maybe more. So, this is probably good advice for me.

    ---sig---
If it were possible to surgically implant a miniature computer in my head, and make it play Farcry, well... I probably wouldn't do it.

But I'd have to think a good long while about it!

A format once in a while is good for your machine yeah but don't expect any wonders in a game...

Whats next? Virgin sacrifice rituals to increase fps?

Right on Meusali, it seems I did have an IRQ conflict with my sound card that made some sounds, generally music, pause intermitantly and that would cause the game to pause while the sound was loaded. For example the first time I did something like fire the M4, the game would just pause for about 3 seconds, cooking off about 6-8 rounds while the screen froze. After the first shots though, it never did it again. I figure the sound was loaded into ram after the first fireing. This sound issue happend with EVERYTHING the first time I used it.

I also had a bunch of spyware that I could not get rid off no matter how many times I uninstalled it/ spybot-ed it. Everytime I rebooted and reconnected to the internet it would reinstall itself.

My MSI Extreme series mo-bo runs continous dianostics, and still does, so that probably had nothing to do with speed change, but I thought I would run this ad to simulate a pop-up.

I really think a lot of programs were running in the background and I just didn't take the time to clean them out. I saved more time by formating than I did by cleaning, I think. This is a pure game/internet *stuff* machine anyway.

I felt I need to format to get rid of the spyware anyway. Those darn pop ups are annoying.
