According to a source close to Nintendo News which it has vetted as being reliable in the past, the system specs handed over contain some “questionable code names” as noted by the site.
Nintendo News states repeatedly to take all of this is an extreme rumor for now, and we agree 100%.
Still, in the off-chance this is slightly true, it’s nice to know Nintendo is working on a truly next-gen system to bring to market.
Again, it cannot be stressed enough that this is a massive rumor, but as Destructiod notes, it still makes for an interesting talking point.

Alright. Discuss.
I saw in the news yesterday that Nintendo have made a huge loss in the last financial year due to poor sales of the wii, i heard that they could start letting other(ms,ps) games consoles play nintendo games..........please let me buy Mario All Stars and Super Mario World on XBLA![]()
Given that they have made a huge loss it would not surprise me if they do have plans for a next gen console, they need money from somewhere.
The issue with Nintendo is they were the first to next gen twice in a row last two generations. Hence they made the worst consoles. If they really wanted to make Wii U successful, they should have waited to see the specs of the PS4 and Xbone.
The Wii U isn't a BAD console, it's just doesn't have high end specs, and Nintendo is, in my opinion, acting very slowly to get the 1st party games that everyone loves to market.
If Nintendo releases a new console before getting some of the most loved Nintendo games to the Wii U then I think they'll lose some of the Nintendo faithful.
Actually, the Wii came out a full year after the Xbox 360.Originally Posted by Jarr3tt88
All this Fusion stuff, man, I think Nintendo would be happy if Trials Fusion is releasing on these Fusion consoles.
btw. I feel the specs are too low again. 2.2GHz CPU and 4MB shared memory issince it's about half the power capacity of Xbox One and PS4. Not that I care about less specs but because devs could abandon that console yet again, if the specs are true. And, how do these people figure out such detailed specs??
They better give me a legit new Zelda on my Wii U before they release this new console...
They might be low on paper, but this is nintendo, maybe they want a lower start-price/production cost from the get-go, and more in-house nintendo games that are optimized for the one console, I don't think the main goal is to compete with Xbone and PS4 directly.Originally Posted by Blastergamer
A lot of major WiiU games got delayed (think mario kart 8 ) and the console launch price was much higher then it is today, I'm sure they need a better launch lineup/price this time around.
Personally I'm the most interested in the hand-held, as I skipped the 3ds completely.
Nintendo has very deep pockets, even if the Wii U does end up bombing in the long run they wont be bowing out of the hardware business any time soon. Love those handheld specs.
Also, if they call it the Wii Thrii or use Wii anywhere in the title, I will boycott them just for their stupidity...
