I also tough something like make a 2nd version of the track with this "tip" even if the players can skip the CPs to the last one and finish the track with 0 faults. But I think this idea is bad because the "fake-track" would be overrated ...
Pressing RB also activates an area trigger near the finish line that resets you to the first checkpoint. And thats just off the top of my head.Originally Posted by Killlard
Not stupid!
But I think the time and faults will not be reset, so idk ...

Yup, its pretty easy to do. You can even incorporate it into the decoration. Like having a whole different ending where you can't trigger the finish cp. Maybe making it when you press Rb, you get a quick camera shot of the finish being destroyed or something. Or it can be as easy as a custom collision that blocks the finish.Originally Posted by Barrybarfly
If you get reset to the first cp you can reset everything by just pressing b (it's like restarting the track)Originally Posted by Killlard

When you say second CP, do you mean two CP at the same place ? lol
Nope, I just was confuse because of the easter egg I made months ago x)
Btw I don't know why I didn't think this methode before...
In all cases, I don't think people who upload individuals CP (of a ninja level 1 for exemple) will include this tip to their tracks.
I think the best way to don't have many individuals CP on the top 48h is to limit the number of uploads per days![]()
the issue is that many people skip these tracks because they know its not for them
and the ones that do play them are biased because they know they like them
now the coding fix, i'm not sure this is realistic because it isn't easy to make and it might not be what people want
like i guess some people like to compete on the individual checkpoint lb's
basicly you got 3 big "communities"
-the casuals that just want fun (stair tracks, bb games, easy gimmick ninja's, troll tracks)
-ninja's wanting to play very hard tracks
-pure trials players that love a great dl
one of the big issues is that the pure trials players will have a hard time finding the tracks they want because of the other 2
the ninja push other tracks out of the feeds with checkpoint tracks and with biased ratings( very few people rate, and many others don't play them because they can't or don't like them)
and the casuals well i don't think i need to tell the issues here
i would say a ninja feed is a must for fusion, as for the individual checkpoint stuff not sure what the best fix would be maybe the ninja feed would be enough
now for splitting the casuals vs pure trials tracks, i don't know maybe a feed split based on a fun tag that could be added
Yeah the whole problem is easily solved by doing one of two things. The first is more unpredictable because someone might ignore it or might not understand what language you're using, but if you put on the individual obstacle: 'DO NOT RATE' or 'RATE AS 1* PLEASE' then it shouldn't clog the feed, but like I say you can't totally trust it. The more fail-proof way is to do the 'LB/RB to move between checkpoints' idea and just release a practise track with the finish line removed so it cannot be passed. Someone could still rate it if they let the timer run out but I'd be surprised if they waited that long without just resetting or quitting, and even then that shouldn't result in clogging the feeds. Outside of these techniques though there's not too much that can be done. If it gets rated up then that's just the way of the game and how TC is coded.
The reason people started doing it, and the reason why its important to not consider extremes/level 1's as needing individuals, is because of replays. Replays are extremely easy to watch for almost every track until it starts getting to level 4 or so with hundreds of faults and 20+ minutes etc. When I first released individuals over a year ago now it was to show people the technique required to pass the obstacle. If I had known it would clog the feed / people would be so annoyed by this fact I wouldn't have done it (as I haven't since). I can understand people's frustrations with it and for the most part I agree that yes it is unnecessary and people should go about it slightly differently (and that they get rated too highly.. I have a couple in the Highest Rated of all time feed which really is a shame in my opinion because I know there's an absolute ton of tracks that deserve that place much better than mine) I do also think that if it does annoy you, then just use a different search function. The difficulty search functions are there for a reason although even still you will always find the best speedrun tracks by going through the highest rated daily feed anyway.
Either way it seems pretty clear to me that RL are going to adopt the TC ideas for Fusion that most people have brought up already (subscriptions, maybe keeping ninja just in its own feed etc.)
