Duke Nukem Forever was a 12 year let down. Gearbox don't give a ****.
Wasn't anything like the brilliant Duke Nukem 3D or it's console 3rd person renditions, it was Call of Halo.

This game seems like Amnesia or Outlast but set in the Alien universe and I am totally ok with that.

Dead Space was not true survival horror. You mowed down wave after wave of necromorphs and... that's about it. Don't get me wrong. I thoroughly enjoyed all 3 Dead Space games but they weren't survival horror. They were action games with jump-scares. Left 4 Dead isn't survival horror either, it's an MP wave survival game where you mow down wave after wave of zombies...

This new Aliens game sounds like a true survival horror game. There may only be one Alien, but it's faster than you, can move in ways that people don't always think about, because we aren't xenomorphs, and can rip your face off in about 2 seconds. You shouldn't feel like Billy-Bad-*** in a survival horror game, you should feel like a scared, ineffectual, weak, chump, trying to survive.

I haven't seen enough or played enough (obviously) to be certain, but the premise has me intrigued.

    A few of my thoughts:

    1. Copying the film environment isn't hard if all you're going for is a similar feel. When the development team goes through the effort to copy all of the sounds, equipment and little details from the movie, I see that as a good thing and going into the little details is no easy feat. They actually recorded the motion tracker screen from the original Alien film to male it look more authentic in the game. Another good example of environments done right is Goldeneye on the N64. Some of the locations were nearly identical, which requires lots of research and effort.

    2. Colonial Marines did look good from the demo they originally showed, only for the final product to end up being total crap. I'm reserving some judgment for the final product but from what I've seen so far, it looks great.

    3. It's just one alien, just like the first movie. This doesn't mean the game will be boring. In Amnesia: The Dark Descent, there's only one enemy in the game who is constantly trying to hunt you down. The game is engaging and terrifying, much more so than Dead Space. You don't need countless waves of enemies to mow down for a game to be entertaining.

    4. Congratulations! You've just been given the Alien franchise license! What kind of game would you make and how would you have it play? Alien: Isolation is the first time the Alien franchise has been done in this way and I can't wait to try it out.

Dammit, If this game ends up being as good as it seem to be, I will be forced to buy a next gen console.. I'd like to wait a year or two before doing that. Unless a (probably crappy) 360 version is also released of course

The story really sounds promising, if it turns out to go down that way. But yea, we shoud be careful with the expectations, I too fell into the Colonial marines trap, I am a sucker for the Alien franchise. Almost makes me force myself to enjoy watching prometheus, which is not all that easy

    I'll shut up now, cheers!

I believe they're making PS3 and 360 versions too but of course, you'll want a PS4/ XB1 for the best experience
