I've been playing this game practically non-stop since the launch of the Xbox One and love it. I'm currently ranked #42 in the world for ranked wins with Sabrewulf. The game recently got a pretty big update which added classic outfits for a couple of characters (if you bought the Ultra edition) and bug fixes. Later this month, Spinal and his stage will be available at no additional cost for owners of the Combo Breaker pack and above. Fulgore and his stage are coming in March with more classic outfits coming in the meantime.
Some people are really hating on the release schedule/ handling of this title but I really like it. It keeps the game fresh with a constant stream of updates and additions. I can't wait to see the top players battle it out at EVO this summer.
Am I the only one here who absolutely loves this game?

On a serious note I think the real problem with this game is launching with so few characters and no substantial single player modes. The game isn't exactly cheap given the little of it you get to begin with. I understand the tight development schedule and focus on multiplayer, but it really limits the audience to the hardcore only.
I have very fond memories of KI In the arcades, on the SNES as well as KI GOLD on the 64 and played them all to death...Even though I bought the ultra edition on the XBone I am finding it hard to love in its present form. I mainly bought the game in anticipation of more characters and modes and am sure i will love it as soon as it becomes a more substantial game.
I love the new Killer Instinct, the survival mode is a good single player experience, and performing your first Ultra Combo in an online match is AMAZING.
@d2: I totally see where you are coming from. I have a friend who is definitely not hardcore into fighting games competitively and lost interest pretty quickly. At least Spinal is coming soon with Fulgore and arcade mode coming in March. I play online ranked matches almost exclusively and am loving it. The game is very deep when you take all the mind games into consideration,
@Shifty: I totally agree. It's satisfying to land an ultra combo in a close match that comes down to the wire. It becomes even more fun when you really get the feel for extending and customizing your combos. As soon as TwitchTV streaming becomes a real thing on Xbox One, you can bet I'll be streaming KI every time I'm on.
Each to their own i guess. I end up just throwing in the fight after a while in survival mode, because I get bored of facing the same 6 fighters over and over againOriginally Posted by ShiftySamurai
The game in it's present form is just not for people like me.
I am loving the game too! It is the first fighting game that has really held my interest for any amount of time.
I love doing the same combo a few times to let my opponent get used to breaking it and then close to the end of the match do a counter breaker to lock them out and win. So strategy. Much devious.
Some of the dojo training combos are a little too difficult for me, but I am decent with Jago and Sabrewulf.
so how much money is this game? What comes with it? With future characters and modes, how much will those cost?
$19.99 Combo Breaker Pack gets you all 8 characters from season 1 (Jago, Sabrewulf, Glacius, Thunder, Sadira, Orchid, Spinal and Fulgore), versus mode, survival mode, practice mode, dojo mode, and online ranked and exhibition modes. You can unlock lots of stuff like character accessories, classic KI music and concept art. Arcade mode and online lobbies are coming later.Originally Posted by jook13
$39.99 Ultra Edition gets you everything listed above and also classic costumes for all characters, additional accessories and the original Killer Instinct arcade game.
For the record, I purchased the $19.99 version and feel like I've definitely gotten my money's worth.
Sounds like it is priced about fair, though future character packs and things like that will quickly turn this into a $100 plus game.
More unfinished games.
6 characters? No Spinal and Fulgore on release. Oh dear.
Next gen sound more awesome as the days go by; I expected as much. I doubt I'll be going next gen for a very long time, if at all. If any titles I deem worthy are released I'll pick em up on current gen consoles.
For now, for now I'll stick to the legendary classics.
