That Falcon one looks epic.. I was already gifted two XB1's so that's what I'm sticking with, however.

The prices seem pretty steep if they want to compete with consoles.

My main concern is that they don't fix the main reason I stay away from PC gaming. They are all over the place as far as specs and hardware go. They are fragmenting their audience. When I buy an xbox or playstation, I know for a fact that my system will play the game at the full detail designed by the game creator. If I buy a PS4, it will play PS4 games that come out 7 years from now at 100%. No buying a better graphic card, no upgrading ram.
So if you get one of these "steam box" machines eventually you will have start sliding detail sliders down and sacrificing view distance and things like that. That is, of course, unless you want to dump more money into the machine.
I think these machines need to all have the same specs and hardware if they want to compete with consoles, I dont think what they are doing is all that different than what PC gaming already is.

The only one(s) that really matter are those that dual boot steam OS and windows. Other than those, you just have a system that plays a few games and needs to stream the rest from another PC. interesting nonetheless.

steamboxes are just pc's that are built with the intention of aesthetically fitting in the living room as opposed to having a tower next to the hdtv. they are not consoles. think of them as you would when dell, or toshiba, or hp release a new line of computers.

This seems dissapointed for people who took the Steambox "cheaper that consoles" in mind. Even just the minimum prices are 500$, which is the price of a Xbox One console with Kinect. More powerful ok, but I don't need to have high-quality graphics games. I can stick with 720p, and use the rest of the power for object details or gameplay, such as physics calculations, draw distance, AI calculations etc.
If I would want to benefit with Steam & Sales, then I would buy a regular PC, with a smaller-than-regular size, and install steam on it, and use it in the living room, but no, I love the social & community way of Xbox Live, so I stick with Xbox for gaming.

edit: Who would buy Falcon for 6000 bucks any way? The power would be enough to run 10x BF4 in 1080p or about 4 different screens with 4K resolution running! Why would anyone need that much power?

Play a game while streaming 4k porn on 3 other monitors.
