    Re: Hobbit

I thought it was better than the first one,
I somehow nearly fell asleep 5 or 6 times during the dragon sequence though,
Not sure why was pretty tired.

    It was a good watch

Yea, first one was just dragged on too long. Second one was good. Really hate how Legolas was the most badass character in the film yet he wasn't even meant to be in the film, apparently he wasn't in the book, so I just think it's stupid how he was the most badass character.

Funniest part was when the fat ginger dwarf was running to the house with all the other dwarfs and was like usain bolt looool, made me laugh so much. Then the fat ginger dwarf in the barrel just going ham on everyone. Amazing stuff.

    Re: Hobbit

Not seen the second part yet, hopefully will watch it later today with our youngster.

I really enjoyed the first part and I'm looking forward to part 2. The book is excellent, very funny, lots of action and is a quick read, only 260 or so pages. Some of you ought to read it, it's not just for kids. How they will make 3 films out of it is quite a feat, although the Pound/Dollar signs will be a big factor, no doubt.

legolas might not have been mentioned in the book but he he fitted in because he is the son of the king and he would most likely been seen by the company
he probably had some role during what happened in the books, only not crucial for the story

    Re: Hobbit

Although I am a big tolkien fan and enjoyed most of the film, I wouldn't necessarily say it was good. I thought it was extremely diluted and thin on story, as well as featuring loads of over extended action sequences which quickly became tiresome. They've tried to add to the story (fair play) but they could only include stuff mentioned in either the Hobbit or LOTR (as they don't own the rights the Silmarillion or the Unfinished Tales), which is why I think some parts lacked any depth. Even some characters/actors refused to be in the films for this reason (Aragorn for example). Also, 3 (3 hours) films is ridiculous -I thought they would be pushing it when they originally announced two and figured they would only be 2 hrs long at the most! The first film wasn't the best either.

I loved LOTR even though so much was frustratingly missed out and wished it could've been longer. The Hobbit, however, I feel is the polar opposite.

    Re: Hobbit

I went to the cinema for Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, and sat in the row most behind. The tickets were in most placed sold out, but awkwardly that theatre room wasn't full. The seats in the middle was about 1/2 - 2/3 reserved (all more behind), and no one was at the left and right seats.

About the movie, I can't tell much since I never read the books of Hobbit. Like NSPVenomz, I so much liked that part with fat Dwarf who smashed around the riverside and on the orcs. 1 part I am always annoyed by Peter Jackson is that he makes such teasing endings, and in 2nd part it was more teasing.
My overall feel about the 2nd part is that it feels completely different than the 1st part of Hobbit. I hope the 3rd part will be better.

Bombur made me roll at times, such a funny Dwarf.Evangeline looks well as Tauriel, mind you, when doesn't she look well. The ending I was like "grrrrrrrrrrrrrr" and I knew it would be like that. May have to read the book again to tide me over, lol.

I'm pretty confident you won't be disappointed with the final part, but I can't say too much.

It was certainly a stretch getting 3 films out of the book, but I can't deny that I'm enjoying them, and I'm always engrossed in the world created.
