Objects in the way
I ask myself this every time I play a track, and there's decoration directly in front of the obstacle, it blocks the view.
such confuse?
many wonder?
no much testing?
wow
it happens more often that I would of thought is possible. Please don't do it, it kills baby seals.

Re: Objects in the way
That means you probably were playing tracks by inexperienced builders.

Re: Objects in the way
sadly this happens a lot and sometimes on tracks by good builders, I even have slipped up myself. There are also tracks that lack in foreground details and always looks odd when the background is crammed with details while the foreground is left bland, and while this makes its easier for the rider it looks a very 2 tone track where it doesn't match. The key is to make use of foreground materials and details that don't have too much effect on the rider. If you want to go through a door or a hole in the wall or a garage etc then unfortunately you are going to have to momentarily have objects in front of the rider and here the key is to have an easy fast entrance to the door/hole etc so that it does not obstruct too much and you are past it very quickly.
getting the foreground nicely detailed without pondering the rider is not as easy as it sounds

True, good point Smeg. It definitely isn't as easy as it sounds, but for some reason it seems as if people who put objects in the way feel as if it's better to obstruct the view in a pivotal point rather than not have that, and as a result, have a bit of a lack of foreground.
I play a lot of tracks, but mostly ninja, and it's especially important to be able to see the obstacle you're doing, and when an obstacle is in the way, I have to wonder why :s I understand the foreground issue, but to put a big metal girder in front of an important jump is just...yh :s
@ masterblaster, like Smeg said, this is done a lot by inexperienced and experienced builders, more so by inexperienced, but it's still an issue in general.

Re: Objects in the way
some people just like to troll "lets obstruct the view so the player will fault a few times minimum"
or lets put a checkpoint and you cant see the rider to get over the random logs and tires( can be done with bad camera angles too)
or explosives for the sake of it
these are just bad tracks
as for obstructing foreground deco, try to avoid it on important jumps
going trough doors is always kinda annoying imo but kinda needed
some people make the foreground invisible when the rider passes it,i don't think this is needed but it can be nice when done right
