Either way, I don't like the talk of acceptable fail rate. For me there is no acceptable fail rate. Each machine should be tested, and tested again, before shipping. End of.
Really? You think MS or Sony can really play test 2, 3 5 million units in that way? Every manufacturing process has an acceptable margin of failures Cag. Every single one. Is it perfect? No. But thats the way it will always be unless some genius can come up with a 100% manufacturing process. And they will then be VERY rich! lolOriginally Posted by CagBall
If that's the case then, they should be prepared to take any bad press that comes with it.
EDIT: and yeah, if they've got the money to make them and sell them at a large profit, they can afford to test them.
Wether the console boots/displays/drive functions should definitely be tested before it leaves the place of manufacture. I'd expect some level individual testing on any mass produced 400 quid product these days.
And tbf my point was that the consoles shipped to the Press most certainly should've been playtested even if that meant delivering unsealed boxes. Better that than have this eh![]()
Precisely. I would have thought they'd do it, if only to avoid bad press.
oh yeah, the press ones should have been tested, thats a no brainer.
As for testing everything, never gonna happen. Manufacturers test units from each batch, but not each unit. Its just now how its done, never has been. The man hours involved would simply raise the prices to a degree where it wouldnt be feasible. Thats why its called "mass produced" and not "finely crafted"!![]()
