i'm thinkin of buying a capture card, but i'm not sure if my laptop has enough power to run everything. (especialy video-editor software)^^
anyone knows how much power is needed to run those things properly??
if you need dates about my laptop i'll post them, but they are so awkward, i don't wanna show them if i don't have to![]()
For me the quality of the footage is really important so I wouldn't start capturing without knowing how the end result will turn out. There are a lot of different capture cards these days and one of their job is to eliminate the amount of power needed from the computer so I don't think they will need a lot of juice, but the hard drive should be fast though to handle that amount of data.

My laptop, which is an aspire 5750, i3 captures evrything perfectly.Ive got a hauppagge, and like blue said, it takes most of the power, so your computer is only really needed for editing, and capturing the image and sound as your capture card does all the techy stuff..
Streaming live though is a totally different ball game..
I have an old Dell and it works great for recording. I can't use it to stream, it's way too slow. I would highly recommend spending the extra few bucks and getting the newer gaming hauppage (the green one). It has HDMI and the one you linked does not.
As far as editing goes, I use my MacBook and iMovie. It's pretty basic software but it gets the job done.
Wish I knew more about capture cards but I never considered getting one unless I started capturing console gameplay.
My computer does software-based capturing and streaming just fine so I never had to dig deep on this subject.
A great program to use for the said capturing is DxTory if you're interested.
that sounds great![]()
if those good montages like morfy and vladi do, work with simple software then i guess it's all good
i will then go for the gamer green one you mentioned vladi!![]()
thank you guys a lot.![]()
I bought this one HD PVR 2 GE Plus 159,90€.
Looks like the unique differece betwin HD PVR 2 GE Plus & HD PVR is that the HD PVR record at resolution up to 1080i and 1080p30 on the HD PVR 2 GE Plus.
@Vladi
Are you talking about this one? HD PVR Gaming Edition

Sorry mate, I didn't expressed properly, 1080p is better than 1080i.
And I forget to mention that only the "2" series have IN and OUT HDMI ports.![]()
