I wonder how many of you complaining and claiming to never buy it will?
Call of Duty is great, probably the best shooter there is too.
Do you purposely ignore the other "milked" series? FIFA, Battlefield, Halo, Dead Rising, Borderlands, Assassins Creed and the list goes on, they are all games that are basically the same except for a few changes each year.
Never hear any complaints on those, and yes. I have played them.
Multiplayer? Arguably, though it doesn't take much skill.Originally Posted by Euan
Singleplayer it's one of the WORST shooters of all time.
There have been hundreds of shooters over the years. Graphics don't make a better game.
I could rant about those for time also.Do you purposely ignore the other "milked" series? FIFA, Battlefield, Halo, Dead Rising, Borderlands, Assassins Creed and the list goes on, they are all games that are basically the same except for a few changes each year.

Subjective, and if you make a statement about it being the best shooter there is, at least you can give some arguments about itOriginally Posted by Euan
This is a thread about cod ghosts (wich you started btw), we are not ignoring those but why would we have to bring them up in this thread? There is absolutely no reason for that. And I can assure you there are always complaints about any game, no matter what.Originally Posted by Euan
Seems to me you are just one of the many fanboys of cod who can't handle that other people don't like it

Be honest with yourself though, TREYARCH sucks. At least half of the people that buy their COD games are for zombies. I know I'm 1 of them.Originally Posted by Euan
Their multiplayer lacks what infinity ward brings in. Now a mix of IW with zombies... Oh extinction? Awesome imo.
That's another good point aswell; despite all the people that constantly complain about it, most CoD players like the game more or less as it is.Originally Posted by Claudia
So do IW/Treyarch push to change the game and alienate their fans? No, and no one else would either.
Which is it? Are they the same game every time or do they change a ton more than people think?Originally Posted by apdenton1
And the formula remains intact because it works - imagine one of your beloved franchises (before CoD ruined it) and imagine a sequel that changed the formula you enjoyed.
I don't like their business practices either but if I stopped buying games from developers with financial gain as their priority I'd have nothing to play.
Me too bro, big Cod zombies fan here.Originally Posted by ShartRelief

i agree with the previous posters that cod multiplayer takes no skill.
At least no aiming skill and nothing like the old skool shooters did but those days are long gone.
Its more about working with your team and tactical play then it is about being fast & accurate with your gun.
I got every cod at launch since cod 4, this year i think i will pass on it.
Cod 4 and Black Ops 1 are the best 2 cods imo.
Cod 4's multiplayer was revolutionary at the time and the campain was brilliant. (That Sniper Mission!)
Black Ops 1 had a decent single player, amazing Zombie mode and even the multiplayer was kinda fun.
Maybe next year ill be interested in cod again, ima stick to Trials & Gta for now.
Same game was an exaggeration. But yeah, poor wording there.Originally Posted by WILLY

Also, it isn't CoD alone that I blame.
Financial gain shouldn't be the developers priority when working, designing a great game should be. Publishers handle all the business side but unfortunately interfere with the design side too, hence dumb, easy games is all we get now (that's another exaggeration).I don't like their business practices either but if I stopped buying games from developers with financial gain as their priority I'd have nothing to play.
Anyway, I'd do loads for CoD:
Reduce aim assist intensity and range.
Bring back theatre.
Wider variety of game modes (What happened to old school mode? A new TDM with 130% health is one I'd like)
Bring back MW2 weapon attachment unlock system.
Increase base hipfire accuracy slightly for most weapons.
Implement lean as a player controlled mechanic not automated and contextual.
Completing whole categories of challenges unlock minor things (+2% XP awarded permanently, unique weapons and equipment, yet another custom class, and of course titles and emblems as always)
Final Killcam is 10 seconds long not 5 as an exception.
Flinching when shot reduced significantly.
As a rule for assault rifles: Low recoil = Low damage. High Recoil = medium damage (No noob gun, no ACR)
Bring back ninja, not dead silence (completely eliminates footstep sound).
Sitting in the same area for >10 seconds causes the player character to cough on occasion (needs more thought, but the intent is to prevent corner camping ***s but not completely eliminate stealth as Black ops 2 did).
Make the singleplayer actually good.
Give my team a little longer than 1.5 years to actually make the ******g game.
Urgh all my time of playing the game, examining it, thinking how it could be better and I cannot even remember half of my great ideas!
There are many different styles of old school shooter, and the style I assume you are talking about is online arena shooters like Quake and UT. Games like that are still made quite regularly, even for console there has been a few.Originally Posted by BigSh0tRob

People haven't a clue what they are missing.
I agree the single player is incredibly shallow. Veteran on Blops2 was a case tapping L then R and then moving forward when everyone was dead.
But really who buys it for anything other than multiplayer or zombies? In a way I'd prefer them to just axe single player and not waste the time on it.
And I agree with most of your other improvements (they are at least trying to introduce non-camping modes, Kill Confirmed was a step towards it and this new Cranked mode, even more so) although not really sure about extra hip-fire accuracy, theres plenty of that going around imo, if anything I'd want less.
I could do a similar looking list myself. Thing is though, and I think you'd agree, as important as all that may be to you - none of them are huge changes, there is no complete gameplay overhaul included there; they are all just tweaks (sp aside), and they have been making changes on the same scale as those for the last 6 years or so - just not those specific ones.
Honestly, DLC practices aside, I think their reputation is unfairly negative. If Blops2 or MW3 came out as a brand new franchise - the first Call of Duty.. it would be hailed as one of the greatest releases ever and praised for its incredible gameplay and multiplayer structure. But because its built on an already established franchise, its the devil.
