Try not to laugh guys, All seriousness here lol :/
Apparently this is likely what Iv'e done from playing trials, Iv'e had this pain In my upper wrist area on the palm of the thumb for close to 2 weeks now.
At first I thought I'd merely slightly pulled it or it was sore, But it wasn't going away. Iv'e been playing a lot of trials, I mean like crazy amounts over the past couple of weeks.
Not to mention I have 70 days playtime clocked up of evo on both platforms.
I guess I do put a lot of pressure on the analog stick when I play, I'm not even sure why I do it. It just feels natural to achieve the bike movements I need in game.
I had a brief open surgery meeting with a doctor this morning, he told me what I have is likely a RSI based injury and that it could be something called DeQuervain's Tenovaginitis.
I paused for a moment and was thinking, please don't tell me its bad..
It was an open surgery and not an arranged appointment, I didn't have much time to ask lots of questions
Iv'e been advised to rest it, just use my right hand to do things, and been given anti inflammatorys for the time being, woot =\
I stopped playing trials a few days ago because of the pain, Iv'e just been icing it. But yeah no trials for another few days I guess..
so I came back home and done a little research,
"People with DeQuervain's Tenovaginitis usually feel an aching pain around the wrist area.
The pain can sometimes radiate up the forearm. Difficulties with carrying heavy objects or pouring water from a pot are common complaints.
Other activities associated with the condition are repetitive movements of the thumb, such as daily typing."
...Or playing trials alot?
Can playing a lot and putting substantial pressure on the thumb for long periods really cause this?![]()
"Those with mild symptoms can be treated with abstinence of activities that aggravate the condition and rest with a thumb splint."
"If symptoms persist, a steroid and lignocaine injection may help reduce pain. In recalcitrant cases,
surgery may be necessary to release or reconstruct the thickened tendon sheath."
I guess I should take the advice and rest it for aslong as possible; I will play through the pain for the Twc though,
I don't care :\. I'm not gunna not play when the time comes, because iv'e been told to rest it.
Whether it hurts me to play or not, I will play.![]()
He said he can't be certain but it's a good possibility and he will inspect it further with the scheduled time I booked for later in the week
and If it hasn't subsided that he possibly may refer me for an appointment to splint it.
I'm 24 how have I got this from playing trials :/
If anyone has any suggestions on what I should do, In all seriousness please do post.
What is this madness..
I always end up with a callous on my thumb from trials and I strained my left forefinger play Rock Band Blitz due to the movements required. So yes, you can injure your thumb! lol
I've only gotten tenosynovitis so far by playing too much bhop in CS:S
You guys must put a lot of pressure on your thumb when you play.
I chafed my thumb on my ps2 controller when I played Devil May Cry 4 on the hardest difficulty, couldn't play for a few days after that
No trials related problems so far, which is kinda unexpected with all the time I spent playing just after release.
That's called being sore blaze. It happens when you work out any part of your body too much or just enough.
In america we call you a roid user![]()
I've hurt my thumb many of times playing trials lol, Grinding tracks for the day makes my thumb swell up pritty bad. I've also had my fair share of arse ache and arm aches lol.
No pain no gain![]()
At the end of a day, my hands ache if I've played a lot of something intense, from gripping the controller WAAAAAAYYYY harder than required. So yeah, I probably apply way too much thumb pressure too!Originally Posted by iStriide![]()

Back in trials hd when I switched over to the d-pad I developed a calist on my thumb. It's gone away ever since I switched back to the joy stick
