Its weird that metro is now hated by hardcore battle fielders yet still played on some servers 24/7 at 1500 tickets

    Re: Battlefield 4 open beta

I only played Conquest large 64 player mode so far, the map seems suited for that in terms of mixed infantry/vehicle combat but it was often a capture and run type of deal, or capture and get pushed out by base vehicles (bottom 2 flags near bases).

I think with proper squads, commander and the new dynamics from buttons that can stop vehicles from crossing bridges, the bridges can be locked down for vehicles, so you gotta spawn either at center point or transport heli, or hop across via a jetski. With proper infantry teams (healing+revives+ammo+antitank) you can defend the flags a lot better, especially the bottom 2 A and E i think (garage and buildings near water) as they are more covered then B and D (metro and arcade) which have more open roads around them, and buildings for snipers to sit around.

The patrol boat doesn't seem to spawn until the skyscraper goes down.

From seeing the other map pictures/paracel storm, I think each map will have it's own playstyles, and with the 7 gamemodes even more diversity, I think it will be bit more varied then BF3, and there's still 5 expansions to come (1 focused on sea maps i believe).

They posted a list of prefered players per map size/mode, and I think I hope servers will be tuned for that, as modes like 64-rush were popular in BF3 however it was designed for 32 for example. Same goes for deathmatch etc.

Me too dude... Some of my favourite bf3 moments have been turning the tide of a metro game where your team is utterly over run

    Re: Battlefield 4 open beta

    Theyve changed things....

Atleast you can change to veteran controllet setting so that right stick is crouch instead of b... Coz I'm not playing COD

I can't get used to right bumper as spot

Vehicles are sticks only... Left is foward /back left/right.. (Like borderlands)
    And right is aim

I would like a default BF3 controller setting to be honest.. Ive been used to that since BFBC2... And I like it

There are NO textures... Would hope its because its a beta, because its NOT a good advert.. Looks AWFUL

    Liking the map though

    Re: Battlefield 4 open beta

Currently team balancing seems to be rather horrid. Started a game 1 on 1, then 4 more people joined one at a time and it just kept throwing them on the other team. This was on the CQ map, no vehicles, so me vs 5....

Really annoying trying to hold or capture a point when there is that large of a team size discrepancy. After 5 minutes, with no other additions to the teams, I quit. Team based capture/defend games are no fun when the other team outnumbers you by 1 no matter which of the three points you try to secure.

Its only a beta, there are bound to be issues. Especially with a launch this big. I seem to remember a certain someone saying that about another game recently.........

That is why I used the word "currently" to lead off my post. I expect that it will get better, but it currently has balancing issues.

    Re: Battlefield 4 open beta

I just dont get it- the impression that some BF players give (in general, no one here) regarding the noble difference to CoD games...
that beta felt exactly like I was playing cod, except with controls that are far less smooth and crisp (as usual) & embarrassing gun textures.

Is the difference really just that BF offers some huge maps, bigger teams and vehicles or is there more to it than 30mins of beta could have showed me this morning?
Because to me it felt like they were doing all the things cod has been doing for the last 6yrs, just nowhere near as well - and I am NOT a codfanboy before I get accused

No overpowered scorestreaks, no quickscoping, more teamwork required than most CoD modes (6v6 you can do well on your own, 12v12 or more, you cant), bigger maps, better maps, vehicles, there's a lot of differences this beta wont show you due to its limited maps and modes.

Both games are good in different ways.
