    Re: Trials World Championship 2013

Got the email. One thing struck me as odd tho-

"Everyone who aims to go to Paris Games Week needs to have a passport ready before the Semi-Final period is over. So if you don’t have a passport, get one."

How exactly would we know the outcome before the end of the semi-finals? Im not going to shell out 300 bucks only to end up not going. But if i wait until the last minute, and somehow advance to the finals, i may end up not going. I have no plans on going out of the country for anything other than the tournament in Paris, so this is a pretty big gamble you are asking us some of us to take. Just my 2 cents.

Also, friend request sent to RedlynxOnline. I need to know the timeframe when the semi finals will take place so i can work around whatever plans i have. Will it be this weekend, next week, what?

I'll do my best to talk to someone who may have shingari added,
    I'll ask around.

Don't think I'm going to make it anymore. For multiple reasons.

The reasons involving the handling of the tournament:

    1. The contest was announced a month before the Paris games.

    2. The date of the semi-finals was not, and still is not, given to us.

    3. They expect us to pay $300 for a passport for a trip that isn't guaranteed by a date that they still haven't announced.

    4. The semi-finals were purposefully made in an "anybody can win" fashion. 2 wins determines a trip to Paris? Seriously?

    It was 2 months.

regarding the passport- it clearly states in the terms and conditions that you will need a valid passport and that has been there since this competition started. If you entered this comp without a passport, then you have taken that risk of qualifying without a passport yourself.

I guesstimated a bit high. My passport with expedited processing & delivery was $210.33.

Is it safe to assume its not this weekend?
I can only assume that it is, I'm sure one of you guys would have said something before leaving the office on Friday If the weekend planned was this weekend.

It doesn't matter if it was a year. The problem is that:

    1. The date of the semi-finals makes it impossible for you to buy a passport normal price when you know you've qualified for Paris. They want us to pay $100-$300 for a trip that isn't guaranteed, which was a terrible way to go about this.

    2. They still haven't announced the date! There's no reason for this. If issues arose, there would be a rescheduling. Instead, they felt it'd be more sensible to keep all the participants in the dark the whole time.

Twitchy, I understand you feel that it's your obligation to defend Redlynx; but I don't see the counter-argument. The whole thing seems thrown together last minute.

    Re: Trials World Championship 2013

I feel like I should look at this from a neutral perspective and see things from both redlynx's side and the side of those who haven't got a passport before the competition began.

I don't want this to blow up, so I want to share a few thoughts.

@1 I can see how it would be frustrating for those who don't have a passport, I do completely see both sides of the coin on this though. To be fair In the rules/guidelines when the competition was first announced It did state you would need a valid passport. Is it fair to look on all of this in a bad light because people wanted to guarantee entry to the finals before the Semis had taken place?.

I can see the money side of things too, It's alot to ask without a guarantee but again It's better to be safe and a passport should last for years. In which time there will be more of these held hopefully. This Is a prototype contest, Like cannibal has already said. I Don't like to see a shadow cast over this contest by people but I can see the frustration for some.

I think It would be a shame If you cant go max, You know how I feel on that.

@2 It would of been nice to know dates sooner, I do agree that this has been awkward not knowing.
Looking at it from all angles for all parties involved. I'm sure people would of liked to have known sooner, not only for passport reasons but to be able to schedule. Book days off work If needed for those who work on the weekends.
    among other reasons.

I'm thankful that Iv'e had a passport for years having flown around the world for other competitions,
Not even sure If I'll make it, I could get beaten by anyone on the PC as it stands with my thumb injury that doesn't seem to be going away.
I can see the frustration though, i'm not taking sides. I just thought it may be a good idea to post neutrally.

If you don't like what they do with THEIR competition, then don't compete at all. Simple as that. Not everything is going to go how you want it to and if you don't like it, oh well.

I was hoping someone wouldn't say this. Basically a cop-out to any criticism towards the championship, no matter how constructive the criticism may be.

Nobody wants to pay for a trip that they may not take.

I would like to hear some people who have qualified to speak up. If the participants bring this to their attention, maybe the next championship will give plenty of time for participants to purchase passports after they know that they've qualified.
