while f2p is indeed bad in general because
-it messes with gameplay in most cases
-or they have alot of players that don't pay and leech of the payers making it more expensive than the game would be worth
    -or pay to win

now disregard all mobile and facebook games that don't have any gameplay or gamplay ideas
how many actual games(so with gameplay) do you know are ruined by f2p where it was clearly changed to be f2p with some "minor" gamebreaking changes and you would have played alot otherwise?

here's another question, how many awesome games did you skip because you just didn't wanna pay the price for it, knowing you would like to play it?

f2p wont be stopped and it will ruin some great games or might ruin some potential good ones like this one
besides only so much money can be get from casuals and if we gamers lose AAA who cares i know some 15dollar games that are way better than most AAA

Re: Deep Down - Amazing Next Gen Title

I am not the biggest fan of free to play for the above reasons and more, but just because it hasn't really been done right in most cases doesn't mean it can't work. It's still a relatively young thing.

I am willing to give Deep Down a go if it's a decent game that doesn't require any more mindless grinding than games that aren't free to play require. I've farmed and grinded my way through many non free to play games - it really will come down to game balance. Seeing as the entry fee is zero dollars and the game does somewhat intrigue me I will give it a try. I have no intention of investing any money in it so if it sucks I've not really lost anything.

I don't know how many people here played Mass Effect 3's multiplayer, but Even though you paid for it with the game I felt they struck a pretty good balance. You could legitimately play it, level up characters and unlock gear using in game currency or you could speed up the process a little by using real money. I think it worked so well because the upgrade packs you purchased were random so you couldn't exactly buy your way the top unless you got really lucky or spent a fortune.

There was no massive disadvantage to people who didn't pay money because a) it wasn't PvP and b) the best rewards came from playing on the higher difficulty settings, which are brutal and require some level of skill and knowledge of the game anyway. My point is if this were a free to play game it would have worked marvelously.

That being said I personally do prefer games I pay the full amount up front for and get the whole experience with the option to purchase expansion dlc that adds to the game. I do not like models that rely heavily on nickle and diming people out of their money - may as well just let children and adults go and play slot machines.
