Fully agree, seen plenty of tracks with 3-4 completely different obstacles between checkpoints, and I don't like it when 1 fault can cost you like 10-20 seconds on top of it.
I can understand not placing it between each little gap, but I often don't even see 20 checkpoints used. Combo obstacles are a different story but they gotta fit together.
Also agree with a checkpoint very close to the start can be annoying, the worst is when I see a checkpoint inside the the start line... and you can basicly finish the track and not realise it was a fault.
I personally try to space my checkpoints between available flat surfaces or obstacles.
Another important thing, always gotta consider momentum on jumps, cause i've seen tracks where you if reset at a bad placed checkpoint, a gap turns out to be much harder from a standstill position, even on easier tracks.
I think that if you fault there should be consequences. Making a jump more difficult from a cp than from a good run shouldn't be something that people get too caught up about unless the jump is pretty much impossible from the cp.
The consequence is the fault.Originally Posted by ShiftySamurailol
Checkpoints are helpful for some, but very annoying for others. Hopefully Fusion will allow you to finally be able to disable checkpoints.
checkpoints are not just useful to help you through the track they are also great for testing parts over and helping you get familiar with it for speed running and it helps if they are in positions where you can get back into the flow line too. Ninja tracks with lots of insane obstacles between hardly any checkpoints are very annoying, but the most frustrating for me is pretty much the 1st checkpoints in many many tracks, i will often quit trying to speedrun a track just because there is a checkpoint right at the start or before a certain drop in that you need to make to get going properly, gas and go is a ridiculous example of this and literally elliminates the use of the B button![]()
well easy fix for the speedrunnin problem is adding an option when you press start to enter speedrunning mode that dissables checkpoints and lets you use b button all the way through for restarts maybe even have it autorestarting till you beat your time like you pressed b buttonOriginally Posted by smeghead89![]()
it fixes all problems besides not having enough or badly placed checkpoints
yes this has been talked about before and i rly hope they add this option because as you say it will stop all problems for speedrunning and too early checkpoints which i will make full use of once i have made full use of the properly placed checkpoints too![]()
But if we disable CPs we should keep the split time each cp gives us but not the ability to reset at them.
Better yet, just don't use CPs at all and problem solved.![]()
You will see people ranting & raging on every then, no a good idea.Originally Posted by Riot![]()
