    Checkpoints

    Hey everybody.

One thing I always notice is the lack of checkpoints in tracks. Some people will definitely know I stress this point a lot.

There is a limited amount of checkpoints given for you to use on one track (which barely anyone hit), depending on difficulty these checkpoints should be used wisely and a lot more lenient. Checkpoints are there to help you through the track.

After passing an obstacle, checkpoints should most of the time be there so you do not have to repeat that obstacle, as you have already passed it, (depending on difficulty may vary but not too much).

Placing checkpoints on flat surfaces is the best place but if an area has a bit of a tilt then it is still not too bad, as long as it doesn't effect the course.

I say this because not everyone is a super mega crazy speed runner (especially on harder difficulty's). Give some people a better chance and place more checkpoints where it is possible

There is no harm in more checkpoints....

I agree with most of that but I think checkpoints right at the very start of a track can be really annoying for speedrunners. And honestly I think it's better to cater to the biggest fans of the game and not the ones with 16 hours played. But I guess that's why im not a dev.

I agree. Lots of CPs but none in the first 3 seconds please.

I also agree with this, but catering for specific fans has nothing to do with what I am on about. Using checkpoints wisely and more efficient is what I am trying to explain. Be more lenient.

I understand the importance of CPs. everyone had to start somewhere. Without CPs we'd all suck xD or be insanely good ? Lol idk

I think he's referring to how ninja tracks slaughter the 48hr feed and they have 18 obstacles between each checkpoint. I agree dude Evos TC kinda sucks

    Re: Checkpoints

You don't have to be a speedrunner to find checkpoints annoying. The first checkpoint on Reclaimed is ridiculous, just for example. It shouldn't be adjusted for novices and lazy casual players which comes and goes after one playthrough, but with the assumption that the player fairly knows the bike physics. If you can't handle the track, go back to easier ones and return later when you're ready. Back in the day, this was standard.

Obstacle combos between checkpoint x and y should be a matter of course on everything except the beginner section.
