But a high end PC will cost up to three times as much, and games are not likely to be as optimized for your specific system as they are for a standardized set of console hardware.Originally Posted by Riot

Games look good, but it can be a struggle to fight v-sync tearing and input lag to make things "playable" on a wireless controller (my PC is hooked up to my living room TV) as well as a thousand other little issues that never seem to be present on consoles. PC is a great platform, but ease of use isn'tMO) on the same level with entry-level gaming as it's console cousins.
Totally worth it for games in the Looking Glass lineage as well as mods thoughOriginally Posted by ShiftySamurai![]()
I'm not bashing MS at all! I love the way they've transformed the XB1 from what looked like a poor second place into a true competitor. The one thing we (gamers) really ened for nextgen is good competition between Sony and MS. This will drive the exclusives to be better to try and gain a percieved advantage and thereby hopefully drive third party developers to keep up with or surpass those exclusives. All of which leads to us getting better games!Originally Posted by Blastergamer
I've been chatting with a few guys on twitter all week, saying how happy I am to see the way the XB1 has become a very attractive option now. Yes, I've been negative about it previously, but I feel it deserved that negativity. Now however, its been improved in several areas and doesnt warrant that.
I believe the only way to really pick between them for launch day is by deciding which exclusive games you want to play most, as the first year or two isnt going to highlight any real differences between the two consoles (unless one turns out to be massively unreliable which I really hope doesnt happen!). Consequently, I prefer the PS4 launch lineup and others prefer the XB1 launch lineup.
And tell me exactly how I've bashed MS in this thread? I started the thread to let people know about the release date. I've posted nothing negative about the XB1 or its games. As for your "one game" argument, thats the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. Thats like saying I dont need a FPS because I can make one in trials.

EDIT: And here it is straight from the publisher's mouth:
It's all business now. Oh well, they are obviously making plenty consumers happy in the process. Not everybody can be expected to recognise what is worthy or not"Today Starbreeze has once again demonstrated that our strategy of focusing on our own properties is correct. Not only have we managed to deliver a desirable product in Payday 2 but also executed a promotion that few companies of our size can. We now look forward to the royalty income that can secure the company's development of its own IP in the future. That Payday 2 generates revenue for the company six days before the release is of course very unusual for games of this size and strengthens the long-term nature of our strategy,"![]()

High end PC can do a lot more than play games (which there are many times more on the PC than all the consoles combined), you can make a lot of cool stuff on your PC like video editing, music editing, music producing, writing an email, writing a book, book a vacation, watch movies, watch tv, be thousand times more productive than with any console. High end PC is something you use almost every day many hours. Mine is five years old, that's slightly less than the this console life cycle that we had, but I've done much more than just play games with it. Sure you have to optimize a lot of stuff, but in the end of the day you still get better graphics, better online play, more games and more options. The new generation of consoles seems awesome and I still love to play all my favorite console games, I've always been a guy who plays consoles and PC, but for this generation with PS3 and Xbox360 I chose PC over them and I have no complaints.Originally Posted by ShiftySamurai
What it comes down to is preference and that's what should be the most important thing. Do what you want and buy what you feel like is worth buying. That's how it works and that's how it should work. I'm glad not everyone is a PC player or a console player, just like I'm glad that everyone doesn't listen to metal or throat singing. At the end of the day we're all gamers and for me, that's all that matters.
I do not feel that online gameplay is better on PC as there isn't (besides steam) a really unified front end for gaming parties. You can have a ton of different people using separate solutions. My point was not that PC is an inferior platform, just that ease of use and cost differential make consoles more entry level friendly.
For gamers who don't make videos, and don't require production level programs to run, then a smart phone and a console can more than meet their needs for a much lower initial entry price. Also, these consoles can do a lot more than "just play games" as well.

Or is it worthy of mass popularity and sales, whilst there are plenty of struggling teams out there with a lot of love put into their work?
Is it worthy of more sales than some truly excellent games?
The marketing, mass appeal design & business models are worthy is the answer.
Whilst it appears very much as standard cookie cutter, all the signs are there, I am ultimately making assumptions of the devs/pubs, ignore me.
