    Wise words from Dahaka

This is something Dahaka posted in my track thread:

TC is a disgrace right now....seems just when you thought it couldn't get any worse it somehow manages to blow your already low expectations out of the water. In the early days, even the poorer tracks had some creativity, but now it seems people can't even be bothered with that.

The point of the above paragraph os that I'd take a line with no deco from a builder like you over some random crap on the feeds any day of the week.
    -Dahaka

I believe Dahaka is right on this and more of us need to start building short fun and simple tracks in between our main builds.
The tracks don't have to be amazing or fully deco'd. They just need to be fun. Something to play to keep us distracted from the crap that's being put out on TC

You have got to remember alot of the track makers have editor knowledge too but just don't know how to put it all together. But TC is a disgrace now. You see at least 2-5 decent tracks out of a feed of say 40...

This is appalling and it is becoming a shambles, the majority of the players though aren't with these forums and there is only so many that want to go the extra mile and put in more than 20 hours into a track.

I think a link on the game would help out alot of players or link some guides to the game to help other track builders have a better understanding of the editor. More like an example...

That's why there needs to be at least a 2/3 per week track limit on TC, and making tracks only visible for friends in the track settings.

Nova is right, there should be some guides in the game, not just single event features. No one would understand how to use OPE when they didn't have help or guides, or never had programming lessons.

It is pretty tough even for the simplest of things when starting, but it's ok when you've got a forum like this to help one another and youtube. But not everyone has the ability to a computer or to have gold, that way they don't have access, so it shows a little concept to players and editors.

I think there should be a source on the game like where it says:

    Play Game
    Settings
    Track Central
    (Guide to the Editor)

In this all the videos from youtube could be all one source for the editor, explaining how to detail, how long you should spend and make it worth doing like you're going to achieve something.

Then promote your cause and site and link us there and it'll make us a bigger community and also better editors.

yeah, i agree with this..i think 25-30 second tracks can still be 'great tracks'..i think once ive done all my video stuff, im going to concentrate on doing some of these tracks..you can still have them looking good with decor etc...and at the same time be nice easy/medium tracks that everyone can play and complete..

iv been feeling like this recently, i have 2 tracks in the making 1 of them will be shared today even tho i only started making it 5 days ago, it is a short 25 sec track because i just felt like throwing together some tracks a bit quicker, the other is a remake of a really long track i made from Trials hd, it has no deco at all but is 1 my favorite tracks. Both tracks will not be the standards of my usual tracks but i still feel/hope people will have lots of enjoyment from a short track with lots of deco and a long track with no deco. Usually i would spend two months on a track but these 2 will have been made in 2 weeks between them

That is how I feel with almost every vehicle track in which cars are moved with 2 Directional Forces and planes OPE with no gravity use whatsoever! Others that really annoy me:
    - Minecraft where you don't do anything except 'FPS Example' around.
    - Don't Move's where the author doesn't disable the controls (just add the toolcard and set to Disable!)
    - Uploading the Example tracks
    - Uploading the SAME track under different names A LOT, like 3 times in a row, every week

I suggest taking whatever 'crap-track' is most popular and making one yourself, except adding more pizazz to it, like a punch in the face . Basketcase was the rider into the net instead of the ball. It fires so fast the ramp is actually pointless and every result is the exact same, but it's stupid fun to smack the rider in the face with the ball. The secret is to press A when the rider's shadow meets with the target on the ground. I believe that little added challenge is what brought it up the feed.

Take something horribly bad (yet strangely popular) and add a real story to it & make it look phenomenal. Imagine you're working with Syn65, Medieval Genius or some sort.

I've got an unfinished Stairs variant that's over 600 steps long, and another that might be infinite. (Blastergamer will be pleased to hear that ) But I've learned a cool gravity trick so good may come if it after all
