no blaster it is a gimmick and ruined some games, devs also shuv it in for the sake, it's a pety distraction, kinect 2 would need to be much better.

After these stunts, you'd be pretty stupid to still follow M$ honestly....who knows what they will go back on in the future. They just completely lost my trust.

They completely lost my trust on reveal of the One.

Honestly this has to be the worst console reveal and follow up ever.

Consumers: We don't want always online!
MS: Ok, we'll get rid of it.

    Consumers: We want used games!
MS: Ok, we'll let you play them!

Consumers: We want a packed in headset!
MS: Ok, we'll add that in!

Consumers: We don't want to have to use Kinect!
MS: Ok, we'll change that too!

Consumers: You guys are spineless for caving to our demands!
I don't understand how people can be so angry that their wishes are being fulfilled. It really seems like some people got into the habit of bashing them and continue to do so when MS seems to be bending over backwards to do what they can to make you happy. I was happy with the progression that MS was willing to try during the reveal and I am a bit upset that they have changed things, but I am from a broadband saturated area so some of the requirements made ZERO difference to me.

I would have enjoyed to not have to swap/insert discs for retail games. I also understand why they wanted the check-in times.
I would have enjoyed for Kinect to be required as it would have pushed the software development for 3D spatial awareness technology in games.
I would have enjoyed letting friends "borrow" games, even if for only a few hours while I still have my disc and the ability to play.
The only *positive* change, if you call it that, is the inclusion of a headset, which I won't use anyhow.

I'm still getting an Xbox One because it has features that multiple people in my house will enjoy, not just hardcore gamers. I also like the introduction of Gold sharing. Now I won't have to maintain multiple accounts for the 3 times a month that my wife feels like playing a game.

But hey, to each his own, and thank you for calling me stupid for the decision that I made that has 0 bearing on you whatsoever.

Shifty, I think the idea is that it is hard to back a company that clearly showed it had little idea what its consumers wanted in the next generation of consoles.

I feel like it would be similar to a car company deciding that all 2014 models will now have built in GPS locators and 3 wheels. It just shows a lack of understanding. Which is why people have a hard time believing that the company will have the intuition to make choices that positively affect the consumers in the future.

    Just my two cents.

this would be a good point if Microsoft had absolutely no idea what people wanted from the next-gen xbox before they revealed the xbone.
but they did know, rumour after rumour surfaced long before the reveal.. rumours of an always online console, rumours of account-locked games and no sharing, rumours of an integral, forced kinect - and rightly so, everyone was outraged at those rumours and they made themselves heard.

people are angry because Microsoft knew EXACTLY what they were doing with that console, and they knew how much they were screwing everyone over -
but they did it anyway, because they thought they would get away with it.. and if Sony was as arrogant and stupid as MS, they would have got away with it.
people are angry because MS' whole plan from the beginning said "screw the gamers" and they only changed their ways because they were losing bigtime.

having said all that, a forced kinect was the last thing I was waiting for to be axed - and now, regardless of apdentons disgust, I will fully consider getting one

I don't see it that way at all. I was seriously excited, except for the name, for what they were trying to do.

EDIT: I think that the positives in the trade-off would have outweighed the negatives.

But that's not exactly what happened. Many people were pissed off because it wasn't exactly what they wanted so they took to the internet. The loudest voices are the ones that are heard, and angry voices are typically the loudest.

There were also many people who were excited about the changes. I was one of them. Because of the reversals of these changes we are left with 2 consoles that are very similar with a loss of innovation as a result.

Sure, we now have some streaming and PVR functionality but I already have a hardware solution for that. I'm still excited for both consoles, but it seems like the focus is now more on pretty games than on true hardware innovation.
