New speakers for my car, help? // Sound System thread!

So Ive ditched my old car and got a 1999 Honda Civic to mainly save gas costs, since that's what takes a large majority of my funds nowadays. I like the car a lot: it runs good, new tires, good A/C, etc.. however the speakers are sounding a little weathered... and by weathered I mean theres virtually no bass to hear, extreme clipping on my left side, and what side like a monotonous front speaker only setup.

I like my music, and more importantly to listen to that music while traveling. Im looking to get a new setup of speakers thats relatively cheap, but durable, as well as gets the job done. Unfortunately, I have no leads to necessarily go off of seeing as how I'm not too familiar with car setups or speaker systems. This is where the lovely RedLynx community comes in...

Im looking for good replacement speakers I can buy online and possibly install myself to save money. If not, I'll buy them online and get them installed somewhere else. Im hoping to get some good speakers for good personal use and nothing much more. I have no real interest in blasting my music to the masses, so a massive thumping thor of a sound system isn't particularly in my range of wants, just good, crisp, clear, and modest. The music I listen to can be bass-heavy, but I dont want to wake my neighbors by any means.

So if anyone here can spare an ear for me that's familiar with this kind of stuff, please feel free to spit your suggestions at me, or link me to a website for purchase directly.

Car is a 1999 Honda Civic.

For all other purposes, this thread is about other people's car music setup. Whatchoo got?

If your not interested in db drags and want to go the cheapest route. You have tons of options. For your make/model of car the factory speakers are 6"by9" at the rear deck and 6-1"/2" round in the front doors. Speakers from WALMART are just fine. Do this project by yourself and for $50.ºº your tunes will be able to rattle your exhaust off in no time at all.

Changing your car speakers is usually very easy. I found couple videos which might help you:

How to Replace Front Speaker Honda Civic

Car audio forums say that you need 6.5" speakers (as T2idingJVlower said), but apparently if you buy too deep speakers, they won't fit. I suggest that you take speaker out from the other side, go to your local car audio store and ask what kind of speakers would fit there. I bet they are happy to help you. You can also measure that how deep speakers fit there and then just buy a pair that fits.

Not related to speakers so much, but I have had few used cars and I just don't understand why the heck are people always keeping the radio for themselves when they are selling their car. It's like I would take out the water pump and the cam belt before I sell the car and tell the buyer to get their own. Sometimes there's not even any speakers left and it costs me almost another price of the car to get some sound

Anyhow, don't know nothing about car speakers because I just always pick the cheapest ones but probably someone here knows...

As you told that why car owner take out their car speakers before selling their car the fact is car if a owner has brought a expensive car speaker for his car and its service is perfect then why he/she will give their car speaker to other which they can install in their new car.No one want to do their loss.I think you got me and I am telling this ti you as recently I also sell my car be taking out my car speaker for the same reason.

I recommend Phoenix Gold speakers. My last set had some amazing fidelity and nailed the mid to high range. Coupled with a single MB Qiart 12 inch sub and a 1000 watt Alpine amp, I had a fairly inexpensive sound system that would drop bombs in the low end.
