So I'm going to try a new hobby. I want to make some guns from Borderlands 2 in real life. I have things kind of planned out in my head, but before I can do anything I need materials. I've searched the web a little looking for broken airsoft guns and parts. So far I haven't found what I'm looking for. If anybody can direct me to a website that would be great. If anybody has any broken stuff they wouldn't mind selling for cheap that would also be great. I'm mainly looking around for magazines, pistol grips, and rail systems. Really though anything may help. If you have anything please give a picture. I am very anal when it comes to detail so ill be looking for some very specific looking parts. If you can provide any help it will be greatly appreciated. If not then ill just let this thread die. Thanks!!!
Would paintball guns work? I got some of those and a couple NOS tanks.
Maybe. If you could post some pictures that would be great. The nos tanks probably wouldn't be useful. I can't really think of a use for them. But show me everything if you can.Originally Posted by T2idingJVlower
I guess I am not sure what you are looking for. Are you planning to make a working airsoft gun? Or just a non-working replica?
I was heavily into air cannons and homemade air rifles and such. The BEST resource by far for that type of thing is a little place called http://www.spudfiles.com. There they have tutorials and pictorials and tons of very informative people. Another great resourse is http://www.mcmaster.com. There you can fand any size of pipe with any type of pressure rating and any kind of other wierd and random parts you may need.
But that stuff is only if you plan on making a real working cannon or airsoft gun. If all you want is cosmetic parts for a non-working replica.... Sorry, I got nothing.
I would love to make ones that worked, but for now I'm just going for props/replicas. I don't really plan on anything working. I appreciate the possible help though.
Well, i still urge you to simply look around the site. They have lots of fabricating tutorials as well, you just may find something usefull there. If anything, perhaps some inspiration.
One of the guys here in NC makes props. He carves the basic form out of a polystyrene and then covers it with fiberglass. He then sands that down and uses fiberglass filler to make it all smooth and masks/paints with rattle can auto body paint.
That's a strange sounding way. What does he make?
He's made some Mass Effect guns and he is currently, I think, working on a Phantom mask from Ghost Recon Online.
Never been a fan of Mass Effect, but the GR mask sounds cool.
