My prayers go out to the families...
Jeese, I dont know what to say. This is about 25 miles from my little town. For all I know, I went to school with most of these guys.
That is horrible news, my prayers are with them also. It sucks how nature can be so cruel.![]()
It's really sad when the forest burns up, because fire hurts the environment and less trees to make oxygen, and then killing dozens of people.![]()
wow..thats tragic bro..i doubt i would have knew this happened if you didnt say..you cant do nothing but feel for those people who perished..so sad..![]()
Sad news indeed. I didn't look too much into it but were the fires close to a residential area? Forest fires have been happening since before humans existed and have always been an essential part of the ecosystem. I just hope they didn't lose their lives needlessly fighting the blaze.
Reichling, the incident commander, said half of the 500 structures in Yarnell have been destroyed by the "radical weather." Most of Yarnell's 700 residents have been forced to evacuate.
Its so surreal to me. Last night when I posted the fire was at around 2,000 acres. Now, its around 6,000. Right now we are desperate for rain, everything is incredibly dry and the winds are strong and erratic. Its a nightmare for the fire fighters right now.
That's insane how quickly a wildfire can spread if the circumstances allow it. I hope the situation can get under control before more lives are lost.Originally Posted by jook13
When professionals are losing their lives like that it makes you realise just how devastating a wildfire can be when it starts to get near a more built up or inihabited area. I mean, if they are losing men, imagine how many lives would be lost if the people involved are young families, elderly, any non-professional. Firefighters are part of a large group of people who can be massively unappreciated by the masses until they need them imo. Thats a large loss to suffer in one "event" as well, not nice at all.
