Re: How I have met Trials...

I think around March of 2012, I was at home super bored and was looking around the marketplace for a demo to quickly download and waste some time on. So, I downloaded THD because it was only like 500Mb so I knew it wouldn't take too long. As soon as I played it, I was hooked. Later, I noticed that I could use the editor in the demo. I decided to start making tracks, really bad one, to add more content to the limited demo.

At this point, I had vaguely heard about Trials Evolution and I started to watch trailers and interviews hoping to find a release date. I didn't find one, but I did know it would come out in spring. Knowing this, I decided that buying THD wasn't worth the 15 dollars when the much improved version would be out in a few months.

And then I waited, and waited, and waited. And then finally I got it, and it was so awesome.

My friend had his xbox account stolen by someone, and one of the things they used his microsoft points on was Trials HD. He eventually was able to get his account back so I asked him what he thought of Trials since he had the game because of that. I tried the demo after that but wasn't totally sold on it yet. Found the game on sale a little while after that and the rest is history.

    This is a cool thread!

I bought Evo a few weeks after it came out. I can't even remember why. I just had some points on my account I wanted to spend, and I remember one of my friends telling me how cool HD was. So I bought Evo.

I can't even imagine what my life would be like without it now. (Man that is almost depressing!)

My bro's friend had Trials HD and i don't like when anyone I know in real life is better at me at anything whether it be sports, board games, Xbox games, everything. So I got it in around 2011 and well, beat him

Pretty much the same for me but I bought the full game right after finishing the demo.

Played easy to beginner directly to 0 faults, gave that up on the medium tracks and noticed that the game isnīt as easy as it seemed at first. Really started cursing the game when I came to Dynamic Range and didnīt stop swearing until I finally came to King of the Hill and gave up on the first obstacle. Took a short glimpse at the extremes and couldnīt pass a single checkpoint. Then came a few weeks of progress until I finally passed Brown Boxes with a huge amount of faults and unlocked those impossible platinum times. Lost a bit of interest in the game shortly after because I didnīt have internet at home for some time. I still played it more than any other game at that time then but itīs not the same without leaderboards. Some happy day in the beginning of 2010 I finally got internet access again and thatīs when I really got addicted. Climbed lots of leaderboard ranks in a very short time (that was after I noticed that all the personal records I made offline werenīt worth %&$§) but still havenīt played a single user track. It was after I registered here that I got into custom tracks, started building a few myself but mostly played a lot of awesome creations and continued climbing the leaderboards. I think during the whole Trials HD time my interest in custom tracks and leaderboard ranks were pretty balanced. Didnīt stop playing customs and trying to keep in the Top100 w/DLC until the day Evo was released.
With Evo something changed. I lost interest in global leaderboards pretty much right from the start. Only played the ingame tracks till I got platinum and then switched to track central and almost exclusively played customs since then. Same with the DLC releases. Still love the game though and Iīm not planning to stop playing till Fusion hits
Along the way Iīve met loads of cool people whom Iīd never met without Trials.

And that kids, is the story of how I met Trials (and sticked with it) ^^

Back in 2010, my big brother showed it to me. I never stopped playing it, and it's pretty ironic because my brother never liked the game, and now regrets showing it to me. But im glad he did since its such an awesome game played by an awesome community.

Re: How I have met Trials...

I spotted a pick of HD in a coming soon on xbla section in an Xbox magazine

From that one pic, I wondered if the game play would be similar to an old commodore64 game I used to play (side scroll dirt biking) called "kickstart", similarly named to a youth dirt bike tv show I used to watch called "junior kickstart"

Checked xbla weekly for months airing for this game to be released.

Demo downloaded day one.. Full game about 4 hours after that

Player HD daily until day one of EVO release... And the rest is history

Th 2 best value games I have ever bought.. In terms of hours gameplay to cost

Re: How I have met Trials...

I remember the old flash game and played 2 levels or so of that when at school and wishing then they made a console version on Ps2 or whatever year it was then.
When i saw the 'Summer of Arcade' games preview (well at least i think it was) of Trials HD i quickly downloaded the demo, played for a few times, then purchased the game and became addicted. I wasnt good at first, I think the first really hard track i completed without faulting was 'King of the Hill' and then slowly but surely got better and better and got platinum on all tracks apart from maybe 3 extremes.
When heard Trials Evo was getting released got it straight away and have improved even more and learnt the added skills, and have all platinums including all extremes which am happy about. Now im getting into the editor, so seeing how that goes.
This game is so addicting and can play new tracks daily so always keeps it fresh. All in all an amazing game.
