Its not engaging me gameplay wise, hope it gets better as I want to see what happens in the story.
I actually found the gameplay somewhat unique with the real time crafting and the options between stealth and run and gun. For me it felt like each new section was a puzzle that I had to find the best way to solve.
Hopefully I will see it more like that as I get into it. There is no way I wont see it through because the story is immense.....it just feels like ive seen it all before gameplay wise. I was probably expecting too much since it received such hype.

What difficulty are you playing on? I find that anything less than hard gives you WAY too much ammo, which really ruins the strategic elements.

Im on normal. Ive had the game for three weeks now, perhaps part of the problem is also because its not gripping me im playing in short bursts and not giving it enough of a chance. Ive been really hooked on monster hunter 3 on wii u for the past couple of months and any gaming time I have I prioritised for that.

A guy on Twitch known as MAN vs GAME plays games for a living rated this game as the best game he has ever played so far. He even shed some man tears at some of the cut scenes and the ending. He was hillarious to watch as he used a bunch of swear words, jokes, punns, and mocking chararctors through out the game. It was like watching a good movie, when someone else is playing. He usually dosen't air on the weekends but he couldn't stop playing it so he ended up doing so. It was that good and yes this game is absolutely incredible.

In terms of gameplay you have seen it all before and I will admit I found significant portions of the game tedious. The story and atmosphere is what gripped me the most and what made some of the gameplay elements more engaging to me. I wont get too specific seeing as you are still playing through, but I can totally understand the way you feel about the game.

I'm midway through game+ already and in all honesty wish I had turned the difficulty up this time around. It's still pretty tense though seeing as I am scouring all the areas for collectables I missed the first time through and having to venture into scary places I chose to avoid before.

Just as I expected. I may give it a shot for the story though, maybe.
Personally I prefer games that offer both amazing gameplay and story, but if it has to be one or the other, then gameplay.
But I may give this a chance since you can turn off the hand holding which says something about the devs.

I can confirm in terms of gameplay it's definitely not what you are looking for, but you knew that already. As for whether you'd get anything out of it...I'm not sure. You may as well watch a play-through on Youtube or something.

And yeah Naughty Dog are seriously good at what they do.

Ok, thanks. Sounds like it may have something for me though...Option for combat or stealth, crafting, disable hand holding....that alone is better than most modern games, lol.

Even Pokemon=More gameplay depth & challenge than the majority of modern games. Rather sad reality really
