I sent a sample of my novel to this company and, lo, they are interested and sent a contract where I have to pay depending on the service between $1000 and $5000 AUD for the novel to go into print. However, I have done research on the company (after I sent the sample of the novel to them) and there is a lot of negative feedback circulating the web. What is your view? Your input will be much appreciated. Is it worth getting the book on the shelf even if the publisher does a poor job?

I have zero familiarity with any kind of publishing, but I gotta say no. Bad reviews are bad for a reason. Go with a company that will respect your work.
