Hey guys,
I've noticed a very similar thing since the end of March. A healthy dose of ratings in the past seemed to be roughly 10% of the downloads. (meaning people actually took the time to rate a track and the track rated well.) As a track builder, I usually watch my released tracks like a hawk, as I love feedback and I love knowing that people liked my creation.
Since the end of March, the downloads dropped off a cliff. Ratings are something like 40-50% of downloads on some of my tracks. So I spent sometime thinking about this and thought it was related to the players left playing trials. Where maybe the people left are the ones who always appreciated the builders efforts and were the ones typically rating tracks anyways.
On my Coyote KaBoom too track, I have something like 6K ratings on a 16K downloaded track. These stats are confusing to me. Do you really think the # of downloads are not represented correctly?
Anyways, as I see less and less people playing tracks, it's a little dis-heartening in a way. If the downloads are wrong, it would be awesome to have this corrected, as I would feel a lot more motivated if my tracks reached more people.
Eitherway, I guess I'm rambling and should get back to work. I still LOVE building tracks and I really feel like most of the builders on TC today have honed their skills and are the best around.
Later guys,

Thanks Barrybarfly for the school hol's explanation. That explains why maps 'made' by a guy called Amplify Trojan have been getting so highly in the 48h listing. They're literally example tracks, what you get in the single player skill games, yet they're being voted really highly... I popped on here to see what was wrong, and I guess there's my answer.
Shame, because I spent many hours on my first track, and only got 26 downloads a few days ago. Guess I shared it at the wrong timeStill don't know if I should ask for feedback, seems like a whiney thing to do as a newbie.
Definately ask for feedback. Start a thread in the user created track section and update that with any tracks you release. Hopefully some of the guys around here will try out your tracks and leave you some constructive feedback. We all started out as newbies at one point or another!Originally Posted by RedDagger![]()
I would be ok with 18 downloads if it was 18 forum users who all gave me feedback in my thread. But what are the chances![]()
@ greencandy
I played your track. It's pretty fun. I'd be pretty pissed too if it were mine and only got 25 downloads, especially knowing what it's going up against.
I seriously feel for those who actually put an effort into supercross tracks. That feed is such an unholy nightmare. Since no one with any dignity or self respect would dare play those tracks, the ratings are largely controlled by, what I can only assume, are awful, terrible, thoughtless people(aka children).
Since DragonMICKY made his amazing supercross track a few days ago, I've been going in there for a change, just to get a beat on things. I barely made it out alive...
searching through the interminable dross in there, you sometimes find a track made with some sense, and effort. Which is sad, because you won't normally find it at the top. Reason being, nobody except this small group of "supercross" people play these tracks, and they either don't know how to rate, or they don't care. I think a lot of the people rating in there are just other people who have 5 supercross tracks of their own in the feed, and they just want to boost their standing.(seriously, 40 some tracks in the 48hr feed, and 5 were from 1 person, all crap. 2 other people had 3 in there. 25% of the feed is 3 people!
I almost felt inspired by DragonMICKY's track to make one of my own, since it's a simple undertaking. But the way things are in there, just isn't worth it.
Shame
EDIT: Downhill Death Race by BlackD0ntCrack is actually fun![]()
Temple run by Jester JYH has a theme and is decent.
ROMA. By LuckymeDX is...ok, the lines are straight and identical, and has some effort
The Cave by Widowmaker 301 has a theme and is almost fun, there's effort
So if you have some time, and you wanna be nice, try these and throw their creators a bone, since they actually tried, and made something decent.
Lol ... well the time delay kicked in ..... got 23 d/ls now
Cheers again fella n as i said online b4 its going to be hard for anyone to top that timeOriginally Posted by Stllbreathnbuty![]()
My track has come n gone, so this is nothing to do with my track ne more ....
There must be a problem with TC New Trials, its been the same for days??
Im playing on there atm, looking thru the tracks uploaded, within the 8 available just before knocked off list, the highest amount of "downloads" on one track is 58, the next is 32, then 26, then 17 etc ??
I don't know how long time wise a track stays on the new trials feed for b4 its knocked off, but 58 d/l`s only seems really low, last time TC had probs peeps were hitting the 300 mark at least ... so i assume there is a prob with TC??![]()
Any game with a map/track editor, you will have 10,000 bad maps/tracks for every good one.
Morons outnumber smart people 46 billion to 1 (fact!)... perseverance is key in finding good tracks!
m8 you need to make a thread and announce its release . with a video if poss if your not twitchy or smeg these days .Originally Posted by GreenCandy![]()
