    Creating waves in water

So does anyone have any idea how to create natural looking waves in water? I thought maybe using forces on the water would give the water momentum, but it doesn't seem to work. Thoughts?

Use an OPE to move the water and then use the water effects to create the effect of waves crashing on/off objects in the water like rocks etc. Thats about the best you can do tbh.

Check out my track Shipwreked. I added some wave effects by gluing like ten water splashes to an ope and had it slowly move towords the DL then disappear then repeat. Also did splashes and such. I think it turned out pretty well. I also used this in my 120 minute track.
They're pretty subtle though, you have to cruise to see them.

Just make a loop from a point to the shore/ wall you want withe the OPE (object position event) that moves the water effect. If you don't know how to animate an object from one point to other point with the OPE, watch this tutorial:

    Cheers!

That tutorial is like the hardest way to learn how to use the ope, lol. When evo first came out I watched that thing like 5 times. Then 1 track later and countless hours in the editor, I figured out that local is so much easier!!! Lol

yeah, Local would be much easier, but if you want something on precise places like you want something move onto an object, the global would be better.

    AND FOR CODE SAVINGS:
If you the start & end is static all the time, you can remove the Object info data sources when whe curve data source has the global coordinates value, so actually it doesn't use more yellow cards for this point.

@Brocade: Intstead using object info data sources at start and end of the curve data source, just choose the # of meters you want the water to move, and check the "Local" box in the OPE.

If your gunna make a beginners tutorial for stuff, i doubt using technical words are the best idea, some probably wont understand local or global, just sayin.

spot on mate i have no idea what this means as i am 1 of the unfortunate editor noobs when it comes to stuff like this. I would love to see some1 do a series of tutorials for dummy's like myself who doesnt understand data, codes, ope's etc properly. I tried watching some tutorials but i always end up just going ...... WHAT ? and giving up so i have to put all my effort into static scenery and obstacles
