Apparently recently nvidia released a new driver for their products and it completely fixed my framerate issues so give it a try yourself and see if it helps.
just go to the nvidia site and find the newest drivers, i'm so glad that this game is playable for me now.
Do you know which version exactly you installed?
Just updating to the latest official drivers makes no difference for me.
(I don't have any real issues, but some tracks could run smoother. And one evening I understood what some of those people on Steam talk about. Had to restart the computer)
MikeB also has Fixed his frame issue since the last beta of NvidiaGreat news for the people with issues

My game now crashes back to desktop after the Press Enter screen. Le sigh...
Beta driver 320.14 show slight overall improvements in most games. It does not fix the extremely low frame rate on certain tracks for me though...
Nice to see issues fixed!![]()
Hopefully, something similar will happen soon for AMD users..
Hey guys, is it this driver I should download? http://www.nvidia.com/object/win8-wi...ta-driver.html

Using AMD 13.5 beta driver (Radeon HD5870 card), and the game itself runs fine for me in single-player at least, had a lot more stutter/lag+speedup phases before.
The problem for me lies with certain custom tracks and multiplayer where it really slows down at times, I dunno if the single player tracks are optimized differently or just less objects in general but on some custom tracks with a lot of detail it slows down (feels like slow-motion) a lot without actually dropping frame the actual frame rates all that much ( I know this is cause of the 60 fps gamespeed ).
