    EA to discontinue Online Passes

“We've listened to the feedback and decided to do away with it moving forward.”

EA being the 1st to implement it n then being the 1st to remove ... bit cheeky, but a step in the right direction .... makes a nice change

And nothing to do with the rumours of second hand games being essentially discontinued with next gen consoles. Nothing to do with making it LOOK like they really care about feedback and the customer, even though online passes wont be needed if there is no second hand market for next gen. Not a cynical marketing ploy to boost their reputation at all. Nope. All for the good of the customer.

Untill the rumours about used games are confirmed or denied, this looks like it will cost them barely anything over the course of the next year and then be null for the next gen consoles. But better than nothing I guess.

This is what EA is saying, "Look we got rid of online passes, we're the good guys. Now, while you kissing our asses for getting rid of online passes, have some Day 1 DLC and micro-transaction."

My thoughts exactly. Why would EA discontinue a business practice that earned them over $10 million last year? Because the next gen consoles will probably implement the same kind of thing for all games.

They never should have introduced them in the first place, I still hate them.

They were only discontinued because NextBox and possibly PS4 have integrated DRM & used game fees.

    Nice try EA, but FAIL.

My boycott of EA still stands, I am now thinking about not getting a next-gen console.

Not planning on going next gen. Until price drops, they separate the kinect and have a very large library.
And even then, I'll have to decide on a PS4 or Xbox One. Maybe I won't even be into games by then......
    Nah.....
