reddit is actually a great place once you know how to use it. The best advice is to unsubscribe from a bunch of things initially and then only subscribe to topics you are interested in.
I'm always around there lurking but in general it's the website I use more often than any other.

But there's pretty much a subreddit for whatever hobby/location/fetish/interest/group/idea/philosophy you could conceive of, and if it doesn't exist you can make it yourself.
The general community (in the more popular subreddits in particular) is ******g atrocious and should probably be ignored unless you like to get mad at strangers on the internet. It's loosely like a forum in that there are threads and posts, but instead of actually having a discussion it's about making the shortest and wittiest comment as quick as possible to gain upvotes. Disucssion can be had but I feel like the voting system is a serious setback to any real conversation. I try to avoid engaging but it's nice to have an account to filter out the subreddits you don't want to see and maybe post a comment here and there.
I treat it as a way to get news about things I'm interested in (and world news etc. on the front page) and to occasionally have a good chuckle. There's potentially more there if you're interested but I wouldn't expect too much, it's just a subset of the internet basically. You'll have lots of ****heads and trolls and good people and idiots and people that agree and disagree with all of them.

I think reddit is an awesome place to find pretty much anything you're interested in. One of my favorite subreddits is r/wheredidthesodago which is basically about all the funny stuff in those stupid tv homeshoppin channel adverts. Definately check our subreddit out and subscribe!
