Re: What is more important - Atmosphere or DL?

im one that loves detail and all that, but you cant have a track without a D.L. its got to be a driving line...

Both. DL for replayability. Atmosphere to make it interesting while you do it. One without the other means you just have an average track at best. Average can be fun and enjoyable, but wont ever make for a great track.

Both compliment each other. A good DL is essential, but without good deco the track will never be considered great.

Is there no animation voting? I think many noobs in track central don't care much about DL as long it's easy, and they like some crazy animations LLUZION) and some moving platforms.

These days I'm now more in focus to do some effects and animations, because it gets a higher rating than static, and that's why they get missed alot. I'll still look that the DL is driveable in the track.

If someone would make a track many animations, moving ramps, good DL and atmosphere, then it would highly get 5*

That wouldnt mean it was a good track though. Dont move tracks have got 5*, but they arent remotely good tracks.

When I'm making a track, they're equally important to me; but when I'm playing other people's tracks, a bad driving line is 10x worse than bad scenery.

I think they go hand in hand. If one is terrible the other doesn't matter. "Yeah it looks cool, but drives like crap." And vice versa. But if one is awesome and the other is mediocre then I think it can be excused. It sounds like most people are looking at it like one is great but the other is terrible. If either are really bad I'm not and most other experienced riders aren't going to give it a second look. I think if you have a great line and just OK background then it will have more replay ability than a track with great back ground and a mediocre line. But they are both essential to a great or even good track

It should not even be debatable. If Redlynx were to have made the game with no DL (gameplay), it would be a sight seeing tour, not a game. Obviously both is the best answer but if you can have only 1 it's DL.

Think about Trials HD, the original game had almost no background, just plain warehouses for the most part. The game was still fun because of the great gameplay and I think a lot of Evo tracks have been ruined for speedrunning because Redlynx decided to focus of visuals instead of gameplay.

I dunno about that. There is not a whole lot they can do to improve the gameplay considering it's an on-rails biking game. but they added a currency system (though it's fail). However they expanded on the editor and TC which allows the community to create classic Trials and even games of whole other genres (though very restricted), so I don't think it really matters. Nearly all complaints I have of a particular game (Skyrim, for example, that simplified crap) are completely negated when the developers allow the public to "fix" their game through the release of an SDK. The evo editor is not an SDK, but there is nothing stopping you hardcore speed runners getting together and making a purely DL focused "game" on your own. (Make 40 or so tracks between you and release em on TC).

Evo > HD. Except the Drum & Bass being absent anyway. But what do I know, I'm not particularly fond of either games stock gameplay, just the developers principles and the editor.
