Most agonising thing you did in the editor that no one knows

I thought I’d start this thread for a bit of fun, and maybe to get people some recognition for their hard work that previously went unnoticed.

So what’s the most complicated or agonising thing you’ve done in the editor that no one ever even realised was there? Maybe you spent hours on a decoration that you can barely see, or agonised over moving an object with OPEs that whizzed by so fast you never saw it.

For me, it’s the train in one of my skill games. My Fighter Pilot game includes a train which follows the train tracks through Crash County, trailing two carriages.

It starts in the east of the map, winds its way along the track, goes up the hill in the middle, under the bridge and down the other side, stopping next to the large flat concrete area just left of the centre of the map.

The whole thing took me about 20-25 hours to build and animate along the tracks, agonising over the timing of the corners and the angles of the hills. I think the end result is beautiful, as it chugs quietly along bellowing smoke from its chimney.

But what happens? It’s just about the easiest target in the game, and gets blown up within seconds!! You fly the jet past it so fast you can barely tell it’s moving! A days worth of work when I could have just made it go in a straight line along a custom track and no one would have known the difference.

I had an average speed display at the end of one of my tracks (much like lifeonaboard had in one of his I believe). I dont think anyone really realises just how much complexity that much logic takes! But the track did poorly mainly due to a lack of detailso not many people even got to see it working!

in my track Toxic Zone i made a small death room where the rider rides in and gets covered in toxic waste, it is only a small kind of fun death lol but took me a lot of time and effort and i think the only person to see this was Conz Yo because i told him, also spent quite a lot of time trying to animate the bleeding squirrel in my Hell of a ride track which only got noticed by vladi after seeing me try to give clues to little jesus and seeing as this is in the 1st checkpoint i am very surprised that no1 else noticed it even little jesus who was actually looking for it

but i think when you have to tell sum1 about something just to get it seen then imo it was probably a waste of time

no one thing comes to mind, but i do spend alot of time putting in minute detail to give a real feel...Barry, and Nas t are the same..we sort of say if people dont notice then thats fine, but we need to now its there ourselves...i also bet theres a few builders out there the same..for your theme to work, certain little details need to be there or its not right...But, i know its there...

A lot of that stuff is overrated anyway imo....as buttcheek once said some people talk about lighting/effects simply because they dont fill the complexity bar with their tracks and have plenty of room left to use those things. Ive never gone overboard with any of those things and still got a wrench...rlp...totw etc. For most of my tracks I could probably use the lite editor

Also some of the builders here dont have jobs and responsibilities so they can spend their whole week on a track. In my experience if you pressure yourself to put too much into a track it stops being enjoyable.

Probably my Trialsopoly lettering.....literally took 30% of the total time to make the title cards and all the property names on the board, and I spent about 70+hours for the whole game.

Wishes we had letter objects w/ variations on font and sizes!

    I still haven't found it.

When i spend ages on a track and scrap it, luckily i dont delete them anymore.
