    Getting things to move

Okay, so here's a query for any editor experts!!

It could be long, so bear with me. I'm fairly new to the Pro Editor, but have the hang of the basic items, i.e. events & triggers at least, (but not into the in depth stuff ).

I'm currently near the end of my 9th track and have an idea for how it's going to end, and tried for ages yesterday with my own thoughts on how it might work, but after a while rage quit the thing

This is what I'm doing & want, if someone has any ideas please feel free to offer your kind advice

My track is along a railway, and for the final few metres I want the rider to land on a platform of a Train Car, or a made up one I tried of two bogie cars with steel beams "glued" on top, and then using Afterburner speed to the end on the platform. To make the bike stop & stay without crashing I also added a drive in bike clamp. The Afterburner works as soon as I land on the clamp, therefore pushing the bike against it, but the whole unit doesn't move.

The odd thing is that the track is on a very slight slope as when I add just a train car with Physics on, it rolls on it's own as the rider approaches it, yet when I glue the bike clamp to it, the thing doesn't go anywhere!

I tried the same thing with a monster truck from the example groups, thinking that maybe the train car was too heavy. Again the truck moved on it's own but with the glued clamp, stopped still again.

So, A: Is it maybe because the clamp has to have physics turned on before I glue it?
And B: Will the afterburner event actually move something else if the bike's on top of it, or do I need to go deeper into the editor & make everything move by itself? If that's the case how do I then make it all move relative to the bike & rider?

So cheers for any helpful hints, all I want is a railway rocket sled!!!

    Rick

    a) it could be as simple as gluing to the physics object just turn physics off the object, i'd check the glue group physics settings to see if its checked.

    b) unsure though i'd thought so as the bike is exerting force, if it all seems a little sluggish, go into the glue group advance physics settings and adjust the friction settings to be lower.

I know that glue groups have to have physics turned either on or off, and I believe the editor takes the properties of which ever object you start the glue selection with but I can't confirm that.

It sounds like the bike clamp has physics turned off, and when you glue it to the train the glue group is assuming the properties of the clamp rather than the train.

Cheers peeps, I'll try that today.

Would the fact that the train car weighs 22000 odd kilos make a difference too? I tried making it lighter but was taking so damn long I gave up!

hold right triger when changing numbers to increase speed (or both triggers do do it even faster)
