So, I smashed another controller on Monday. Since then I bought a knock-off brand Afterglow controller for cheap. As I started playing trials, it seems like I was drunk based off what I was doing. I seemed to have little control over the pressure on the throttle of the bike. I thought,"Nonsense, I don't suck all of a sudden."
So I fired up the editor, and I pulled up the controller value data tools- gas, brake, l stick horizontal and vertical, and r stick horizontal and vertical. I made editor icons visible, then started fiddling with the triggers and sticks. Sure enough, what do I find out? This particular controller's input value range on the triggers were totally screwed up!about half of the right trigger's input values were within only about 10% of the triggers range of motion! That was why I was having difficulty with controlling the throttle on the bike-
-my controller was garbage.
So I got another one. This time is just the usual official Xbox controller. I tested everything out, and the triggers have a very smooth input range, making control much, much easier.(so much easier that I actually crushed my test your might record on my first try) I also have another busted up, but semi-functional official controler that I was using. It performs similar to the "new"(used) official controller I got, however I noticed they had their differences.
Case and point!- people, see what your controlers do! They may not be as functional as you think. While there certainly is no substitute for hours and hours of hard practice, and great skills, a controller that performs at its best will be your best chance for success.![]()
Not using brand name controllers is always a mistake.
I agree. Cheapo controllers are almost always crap. But I had no idea just how different the buttons and triggers functioned from the brand name controllers. I figured mostly, the difference was in look and feel. I figured the buttons should still work properly. Nope. It was rediculous.Originally Posted by PenguinFTW
But even still, each brand name controller usually has suble differences. Worth checking out if you have more than one.
My controller's thumbsticks are always drunk. (loose)
After a (short) while my left stick always wants to jam slightly to the left. Free wheelies are fun at first, then become irritating really quick.Originally Posted by Riot![]()
I had this same issue so I had to buy a new controller. It becomes frustrating when I let go of the stick in the air and my rider starts spinning faster. Leads to a lot of avoidable faults.Originally Posted by Barrybarfly
yh it will make a difference my 3 controllers are old and all stick sometimes but im not gona go spend £30 so i can play a tiny bit better
my tip is never take ur thumb off the left stick and it sholdnt be a problem
MadCatz are good non Microsoft controllersI had one myself and gave an advantage on Trials HD when it came to being able to go further on Break Bones and Ski Jump, because the maxium you can angle your controller is more on every MadCatz controller, shame it doesn't work on evo xD
+1 my controller pulls to the left but its only a problem if you let it be oneOriginally Posted by IxKILLxZOMBIES
